    Singapore custom in airport

when we arrive in other country, we have to join the Q in visitor's counter for our passport to chop. we can not join in local counter , will be chase away by local police custom.

when we arrive in our country, even though it is for Singaporean. but other visitors also join in. end up the Q is long.

think you dont have to expire to renew. You can renew and the date will be added to expiry date.

Anyway, i dont think our q is as bad as other countries. it more like wait 15 min for singapore airport, vs an hour in other countries.

Go buy some duty free stuff.. after that, q always very short already.

Other countries are not so welcoming of visitors; you can see it this way!

But Singapore - we are quite dependent on tourism and thus give visitors 'red-carpet' welcome and speedy immigration clearance to sweeten their experience as much as possible

been flying around Asia country like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia , New Zealand .... for coming 14 years.

coming back to Singapore custom always make me feel like not belong to Singapore as all Visitors join in the same q as me.
but for other countries, q is mean for their local citizen .we are not allow to join in.
why can't we to the same ?
you might be right to change passport to automation or we really welcome visitors.
is just that, we should be given the feeling of belonging ma.......

No need biometric passport right? For the last 5 years, I have been using my non-biometric passport to access the auto-gate, but my passport back then was the "window period" time, where it valid only for 5 years yet not biometric. Sometimes those gates are a pain especially when thumbs are dry.

Number of times i gone through the gates with that passport: more than 20.

I am holding a biometric passport now.

... Also Customs and immigration are usually different departments in many countries, including Singapore. Immigration officer give u the visa stamp, custom officer check your luggage at those "red channel" "green channel/nothing to declare" lanes

no le, not really we like to complaining.
                            there is a joke:

Our PM ask why Singapore river/sea no fish to catch one ?
and other site country of PM say their fish in the river/sea like to open mouth to complain, thats is why so easy to catch.
not like Singapore fish in the river/sea dare not to open mouth. all being obey and follow only.

At HK airport, on my way back to SG not too long ago, there were all those typical barriers set up to direct the queue. Those with the "quick release belt" type.

There are many entrances.. and there are many exits, each leading to a immigration officer. And there were many dead ends too

I thought I was a mice trying to navigate through a maze to get out...
                              huh
