      How much is the Roomba?

BTW, it's made by a company, iRobot, that also manufactures high-grade robots for defense purposes.

i got it from my friend in the USA. much cheaper there compare to local set.
about half the cost of buying it here.

        Yup, it's from irobot.

there also a scooba, like the roomba, the scooba is for mopping.

Hide my roobma under shoe cabinet, so out of sight during charging.

I had ran my Roomba for more than a year and YES! it's an useful item at home. I ordered from Amazon and it's still way cheaper than local purchase.

One thing to note is go check out the maintenance of the battery in iRobot website. You need to reset and keep the battery in tip top condition or it will die on you one day. My Roomba battery has lost its charge holding and need a replacement. I have ordered it from US and it's a hefty S$100+.

i have a 1st Generation Roomba about 6yrs ago, charge 12hr just to vacuum 30min. The latest 5th Generation charge 3hr and vacuum for 2hrs.

It always return to self charging home base after vacuum, i leave the power supply on.

Haha ok seriously, I also intend to get a Roomba, but didn't see it at the PC Show. Anybody knows the models and prices available in SG, and if go US to get it, is it really much cheaper?

                Thanks!

I got a 3rd party ones fromo Ebay, it cost me like $60SGD, and it seems to last longer than the original one. Mine is a 560 hand carry back from US also. The price tag here is crazy, it's more than 2x of what i got in US.

SG sells about $800+ for top model like 550, 560 5xx. I got mine for about 400sgd or less in US, but u need to convert the power to 220V, i read up online and did some soldering work not so hard for RC enthus :P

I have worked in the electrical retail biz before. Therefore i know the sort of pricing set by the agent/distributor. Their mark-up can range between 2 to 3 times the cost they get if they know that there is no one to compete here with them or if they are looking at only short term biz...

Hmm the Singapore site doesn't really have the same models as the US site.

                            SG has 520, 555, 563
                            US has 530, 560, 570

But yep, can definitely see the price difference Not sure which one to go for though, maybe the 560 from the US?
