i merely just want to reset the password, and if better, recover the password.

my computer is using window XP home edition but i wont know is my hdd using volumn encryption, cos i infact dun know what is it..

just hope to use my computer back and not cracking my head to think what password i had used it...

you can try those free password reset tools here

there're many such tools available.. and i'd rely on 'chntpw' on backtrack bootup CD

Recovering the password is more troublesome, need to grab the password hash (through bootup CD) and crack them through 'rainbow' table.. the time to crack depends on the complexity of the password.

Go to control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Local Users and Groups -> Users

Right click on the user you want to set the password and click "Set Password". This can be done only when you are logon as an Administrator account.

You can also create a new account to logon and then delete the current one..

hi, the problem is that i can't even go into the main page as i need to key in my password right after the computer is start booting.

sorrie, to make things clear....allow me to go thru here...

first, i press the start buttom to on the computer...

then,

the computer start to boot up and then go to the place that need to sign/ log in before it goes to those main page where we can see our short cut, our lovly wall paper etc ...

the login screen.
when you switch on ur comp , press f8 until you can choose to go safemode.

in safe mode, log in as administrator. unless you also set password for admin... then i have nothing to say hehe...

Once in safe mode, go to Control panel > User Accounts and reset/delete your password
