    bushfire during funfly at punggol

ok this is wat happened ,as i was flying, out of nowhere a bush fire started at our flying site(punggol).it was about 500 m away and the wind was blowing in our direction the fire was huge and i could see it spreding.i landed and packed up and we all went away as we were afraid that the police would ask questions.chan and i went imediate and as we were leaving fire trucks were at the entrance .well we manage to leave before they could say anything.

    part 2

after a few hours we returned after all the police had left.as i started flying ,i did not notice the police officers .they approached after i landed i thought they were going to ask me questions about the fire but to my surprise they were asking questions about the heli like how much ,how high can it fly and all those ridiculars questions.lucky they did not ask about frequency

wah...the things the ******** can do to fields....

thought it'll be ok if the police ask abt frequencies...he'll say ' secret...secret...'

      dear fellow daddyhobbists,

It's seems now that the weather is dry and baking hot, just a friendly reminder for those flying inside remote areas with dry lallang and shrubs nearby please be extra careful during this hot season. If need to, please note the evacuation route to safety before settling down for flying. Best is do have buddies with you... esp the newbies ...

Those driving please park your cars far away from these "hot spots"

From an Aussie who used spend 8 months out of the year on dry arid lands sort of what singapore is just starting experiencing now..the bigest fire starter is smokers! .. I have lost count fo howm many fires I have had to put out with the CFA ( country fire authority ..its like the local fire officers for the country towns) from a smokers butts there were about 3-5 a week normaly ...so please all you smokers out there ..if you are in dry areas like what singapore is havingnow , go to the nearest dirt road and have your smoke and make sure that its its out ( both the ash and the butt) before you go anywhere
we dont want to be responsible for any of the fires ..it could be the end of that site for us if it is. (and not to mention the posible loss of life and property)
            Just my two cents

            cheers doug

PS. that all being said I think that all of us flyers are a very responsible bunch and would know this anyway

A few things to note when posting sensitive threads:

This is a PUBLIC FORUM where everyone including the cops can read. By writing about "frequency", well, we all might just the question the next time we see the cops.

I am a smoker and I agreed that we should take precaution. I wouldn't however go to a "designated" area to smoke. I think that is best left to common sense and just make sure something burning is not left unattended. I simply make sure I snuffed out the butt completely. Just a note though that while it is quite convenient to put the blame squarely on smokers, you should however note that it is quite impossible to determine the exact cause and only speculations are derived logically. From what I understood of the discovery channel lol, it is because of human activities... We create big national park for example and allow the trees to flourish, over a few wet years or decades, these protected areas became a timebomb because every opportunity is taken to protect them from any possible destruction including fire. This accumulated timebomb simply goes up in 1 big smoke instead of nature's cyclical fires that occurs naturally. We are screwing with nature and that's about it, period. Try taking a temperature reading on a typical hotday in punggol, and drive up next immediately to Lornie road or Seletar road, you will be quite amazed at the temp differences... Human build up is the problem really.
Stop looking for a gyro in my plane, they are all in the head.

This year is exceptionally hot though, looking out of my window the grass is brown, never been like this. Not in Febuary.

Sorry If I came accross as bit harsh I was not balming the smokers for the fire at all. I just wanted to point out that its very easy for fires to be started by a smoke not porperly put out or the ash falling on the right type of material.

Just somthing to be aware of that was all i was trying to get accross.

                            cheers all

No need to be sorry , you are right cos smokers pose a threat and there will be some idiots who will flicked a lit butt to the bush lol. I am currently thinking of ways to shade my lipos and electronics out in the field from this heat heheheh and a quick pack up routine to run from fire should 1 ever occur near me lol!
