    Rotor Hobby Complain

I would like to say something about Rotor hobby.. the shop in french road..

I have gone back many times just t get replacement parts for my main blade..

    Here are my bad experiences..

    1) I rushed down after school and reached there at 640.. I asked for assistance to get a few parts and one of the shop persons told me to come back again tmr as they were closing.. meaning I only got 2 packets of my required spares.. This is really bad customer service..

    2) I called them the next day and asked if they had certain spare parts.. the woman told me she was busy and seemed very impatient.. before I could finish what i wanted to say.. she put the phone down..

    3) I went down after that and got other stuff.. The esky manual printed the locknuts in the wrong packaging and as such I asked them if there was anything wrong.. they told me no and that it was correct.. what i wanted was in packet..

    4) WRONG! the locknuts were not inside.. I called them again today to check and they told me yah they had the locknuts in stock.. so I down and got them.. I also asked for wrenches to screw them in and she told me this particular one could fit into the blade holder.. I specifically said that the holder was very small but she still said can fit.. so I came back and tried.. IT DID NOT FIT.. now i have to go back tmr and exchange the wrench again..

It's really disappointing that I have to make so many trips. I keep coming back excitedly thinking I can fly my helicopter again but the shop's service keeps failing me.. Couldn't they even help me to check the blade holder if it fitted? I mean they had the spares of the blade holder. They just could not be bothered to check..

Although I must say sometimes they seem abit helpful and there is one guy inside whom I talked to before and he gave me quite abit of info..

Though one thing is for sure.. I will definitely think twice before going back there to buy my parts next time.. they may sell things cheaper there.. but it's causing me alot of inconvenience with their half hearted assistance..

i have been getting pretty gd service as well.. but that could be because we know what we want when we go into the shop. The sales ppl probably know abt the more popular models like the mini T, trex or raptor... but may know nuts abt esky..

there are so many parts on a heli, they cant be expected to know every part.. even if they are selling it..

to me hobby shops are mostly self service centers... i find out what i want before going to the shop.., reach there, say hello, ask them where they keep the item, i pay they smile, that's gd service to me liao.. maybe my standard abit low... but i prefer it this way too ;)

This is indeed a bad encounter for u...

Nevertheless, what I personally thinking is that you should join a FF group and get the experience guy to advice you on what to do, how to do, what to get etc... that will definitely save you time and money for sure.

Going down to the shop and get your stuff is OK.. but you must approach the correct person to get help when you want to purchase something which u are not sure off. Not all the lady there know inside out. The best is to get "male" assistance.

My 1 cent worth.... Hope you have a better luck next time...

Nicholas, go to RCE Hobby in Orchard Plaza and look for Uncle Chong. He is the only person in that shop and he is male , so you surely wouldn't kana some ignorant auntie. He *build and fly* all the helis he *sells*, and all his personal helis are on display in the shop. So he can show you all the parts and test for you if anything fits or not. He did all that for my King 2. Damn experiened guy if you asked me. And very friendly too.

Disclaimer: Me not related in any way to RCE, just a very happy and satisfied customer who wants to see this shop in business so that I would not need to go to any other shop

The aunties there are very friendly and nice, but their r/c knowledge are really quite limited. Really can't blame them lah.

If you need help, ask the uncles there. They know a lot better because they are also flyers.

No matter what are you buying, be it computer parts, r/c stuff or even sch textbooks, always do some research. Always be certain of what you want when you step into the shop.

If you really want good help for esky products, can try rce.

i oso go there almost every week.. usually i'd borrow the instruction manual from the counter and do my own treasure hunt round the shop.
Guys.. I can't do 3D. So if you see me flying inverted, I'm in trouble...

yeah I guess I should approach the guys in the shop..

or maybe is cuz I'm a small customer to them that's why.. I bought my heli online cuz it's cheaper.. only buy the parts from them..

nevertheless.. I've learnt to take whatever they say with a pinch of salt..

yeah.. I've been to RCE before.. din buy anything from there but its seems more dedicated to helicopters..

though I can't help but feel pissed about the wrench.. If she wasn't sure if it could fit.. she should have just said not sure then I could go and test it out myself..

hey traderghost.. are the parts in RCE expensive? so those in the windows are all his own helicopters? cool.. I was wondering if he was selling those up helicopters cuz their designs were quite nice.. now I know.. hahaha..

Just checking to make a comparism.. how much does he charge for a RTF HBK2? bought mine for about 293 with training kit and 1500mah exta battery inclusive delivery..

                    Hi there,

I feel sorry for your encounter. I never had much bad experiences with Rotor although yes they ARE very busy being one of the largest RC store and doing regional distribution (if you ever worked in a retail store you will know how they feel during a busy period). I have even worse experience with other shops but I won't mention which here.

I'd suggest you join a FF and check out what people are doing, gather some tips etc. Being a lone ranger in a highly challenging hobby can be really difficult, and hopefully you won't meet some RC store that rip you off... which is even worse.

That said, I am usually very weary of freelancers and sellers without a storefront.

RCE's service is damn good. Trust me on this man. When I got a rx crystal instead of a tx crystal with my optic6 from chong, all it took was an sms to him, and I received the correct tx crystal over the mail in a few days. Chong trusted me enough to return him the rx crystal the next time I visited his shop. He also exchanged a faulty hitec servo for me after ensuring that it wasn't my fault, and allows me to exchange for wrongly bought parts. I've become a loyal customer ever since.

As for prices, esky parts are pretty much standard whichever LHS you go to in SG. The location's good too, since it's only a 5min walk away from somerset.

The most impt thing is that he's knowledgeable about the stuff he sells, and takes the time and effort to help you troubleshoot your heli problems and sometimes you can feel that he really gives heartfelt advice instead of simply pushing to you the most expensive items around.

Note: I'm in no way connected to rce - just a very satisfied regular customer.

I think online prices is definitely cheaper than brick and motar shops. But it is the support that eventually counts. That's why I try to buy from local hobby shops. But if I buy from them and I still don't get support, I'll be pissed. That's why I choose my shop very carefully

RCE prices are generally slightly cheaper than Rotor, or at most the same. But the info and knowledge you get from Uncle Chong, in my opinion, is priceless. Yes, those helis in the shop window are his personal ones. They are not for sale You can go see his mods, especially on his King 2 which is of interest to you. I personally learnt a thing or two on how to improve the collective on my King 2 because he explained his mods to me. Go pay him a visit

I'll go change the wrench.. after that I'll go to RCE if I need repair for my helicopter again..

Anyone here into RC cars also? I think they are so cool too.. I'm not intending to get any soon but just reading up more on them so next time when I get more money can buy one.. Do they like hold regular competitons for those here?
