there is a manufacturing defect :knockedou ...story goes like this...a month ago, we bought a Thomas The Train set "7409 Talk N Action" set for my kid's 3rd birthday on 5th Aug...
we felt that he was old enough to take care of this expensive train set....and we know that he really loved to have a set since he was 2 yrs old....but we told him when he reaches 3 yrs old..he can have a set...
Well we bough a set from Isetan in July and had it gift wrapped for his birthday...and the set was only opened on Sat 5th Aug his birthday...he was so happy and excited openning the set...and screamed in excitment when he saw that it was a Thomas & Friend set...
We help him assemble it up and behold to our disaapointment..and my son's disaapointment..the train refused to move smoothly along the tracks....it would get jam along the track on and off....and needed help by pushing it...
Me being the curious minded engineer.....and heng got fly heli and play rc cars..
......inspected the engine and wondered what could have gone wrong...behold!!!...the gear driving the train was cracked!!!..and as Murphy's Law said it..it had to happen...No wonder the train could not move smoothly around the tracks....
well..my kid could not have damaged it as the whole set was fitted up by mummy and daddy....lol..if we had let him be...letting him try his hand in assembly....we would have suspected it was him who damaged it!!
looking at the gear...one thought came to my mind...lousy QC...either the shaft or the gear were a tad smaller in size..and when assembly at factory...they just force fitted the gear in...not knowing that it had cracked!!
the very next day...we went down to Isetan to get it change..and good lord..the staff at Isetan was friendly and helpful...they agreeded to a exchange eventhough item was bought a month ago.....
Opened up 3 exact same sets...and behold..same exact defect: Cracked Gear... we gave up..and decided to get another set...more expensive$$ as we needed to top up cash....
here is the same gear set from a different set...look ..no cracks...
so Parents who are buying this set..pls avoid it ..!!!!also its $49.95...

heres my kid with his new set....he luvs it...tot there is no sound...me and mrs luv the first set...but too bad....end of the day...lousy / bad quality spoilt it all...the new set cost us $80...but as long as son is happy...we are ok...

I prefer LEGO anytime, help develops my brain.
