I'm not too sure what u planning to do but here is my 2cts.
I rear all types of fishes n have been using salt for the longest time.
I have used table salt, aquarium salt and marine salt. For my F/W fishes, they got no problem with all of these salts which I put into the tank only during water changes. For marine fishes, only marine salt will do as u do not want phosphate n nitrates that r found in other salts in ur tank!!!
For cooking purpose, please use only table salt. Aquarium salt n marine salt contains chemicals such as anti-chlorine n some anti-bacteria(which I doubt). Definately not suitable for human consumption. Water will turn slightly bluish when aquarium salt is used.
There r some discussion if salt is beneficial for F/W fishes as this will lower their immu system. When they fall sick, the salt will not help it curing their disease as they r used to the salt content.

Thanks for replying. I am thinking of using table salt as a substitute for aquarium salt, since aquarium salt are expensive (2 bucks for a small packet), and i do change my tank regularly.
Will adding table salt do any harm to fresh water fishes like luohan fish? How much should be added for a 3 foot tank?
