The bolt (or whatever is left of the screw) is pertruding? If so can use plier to turn it out....Originally posted by MK3DHi.I have a screw that is stuck in an aluminium part. The screw head is broken so left the shaft(thread part) inside.I can see both ends. The problem is that the shaft has a small diameter..and I have no other idea on how to remove it.Anyone can help?
If the bolt is embedded in the thread hole... best way is to prob drill it out... Will risk spoiling the threads but since it is alu, u can easily tap the thread for screws 1 size bigger...
Good luck! Sticky prob u have there...

can the screw be repositioned? As in, can u scrap the current screw hole and jus thread another somewhere else?Originally posted by MK3DI have tried drilling.Perhaps the screw is hard.It is embedded flush with the aluminium part.someone suggest to me to use a dremel to create a slot and turn using a screwdriver. But i thnk its too small..and i do not have a dremel.
You can also drill a hole just beside the existing one so u get the slot to pry the broken screw out...
No dremel, can use a grinder bit afix to a regular bench drill / hand drill... just that this setup is clumsy...can grind ur way through. Screws are usually harden steel...regular high speed steel drill bits at high rpms should eventually wear down the screw if u persevere
Maybe u could post a photo of the situation. Others here might be able to help

I suggest u drill a small hole in the centre of the screw.
Then get the screw extractor tool and fit it into the newly drilled hole.
With the use of WD40 n screw extractor, unscrew the broken screw out in the normal anti-clockwise direction.
Tis type of situation occurs usually in my previous coz of work.

another way is use a small flat or philip screwdrive and a hammer, slowly hammer the screwdriver on the side of the broken bot in the direction of unscrewing.. ANTI-CLOCKWISE. slowly until you see the bot start to move and lossen itself.. try it.. it work for me when I in the army time, during field recoverary for vehical.
