    Glider Lost in Reservoir!!!

Hi all fellow fliers, pls. help...

I was flying at bedok reservoir today abt 6 plus with powered assistance (as the wind was weak). When on a landing approach, it got stalled and went stuck on a tall big tree.... mid hill level. As it was approaching dark and it was too tall to climb up, i decide to come back later at night with the help of some nylon rope to retrieve the deeply stuck glider.

However when I came back later abt 8-9pm with the aid of a mac-light, the glider was missing from the tree... A bypasser then told me a middle age guy (slightly bald) could have took the plane as it could have came down on strong winds.

My plane is a yellow colored one-piece 1.5m wing balsa tumeric glider. (several glass strip clear tape on it)

Will like to fellow fliers help to let me know if you happen to see it anywhere near the reservoir or if anyone approach you asking if you know who is the owner, pls contact me at 92776174.

    Many thanks!

    Kenovan

Double post for your reading pleasure.
more appropraite here than in Market place.

Hey man, as a regular, we know that some locals living in the area love to seat around where we fly during the day, and once they spot a plane stuck in any tree, they place close attention to it. Once the owner has left, they will try by any means to retrive the planes. Some even say they sell it away at cut throat prices. But im not clear on that myself.
So the rule is, if the plane is in clear view of passer bys, dont leave it behind. Ask a friend to be a look out while you get the neceesary gear. It pays not to fly alone.
However if the plane is way up and in no danger of bein stolen, than rest assured that if you cant get it easily, that wont get it easily. it all depends on your luck!

      Thanx!

Hi Wei Yao, thanks for the info... i guess then the bird shd be in harm's way now :|

The time was abt 740pm when i left last nite to find the ropes and thou it was kinda pitch dark and not much souls, its true there could be some 'fishermen' in that area eyeing. But judging how deeply stuck at the very edge the tall tree (one of the tallest trees along the slope) I fathom it couldnt been have easy climbing up even for a pro at such dark lightings. In fact so deeply stuck was the plane that with full throttle (at a high amp disharge motor/battery) it doesnt even move an inch in the thick branches.

Was indeed kinda of surprised that its gone in less than a couple of hours.

Hope fellow fliers can help keep a lookout shd anyone spot it or if anyone approaching you to sell you some yellow glider

        Once again thanks!

        *Desperate *

            Thanks brudder!

Anyway the folks who passed by last nite told me that 'ah pek' (the name of the middle age guy i guessed) could possibly have took it... and that he stays around that vicinity.

Meanwhile I will go ask around the coffeeshops for this person.

Think its better for fellow flyers to get some nylon rope with weight along while flying just in case... juz to prepare for the unexpected

Actually thats what some of us do. The best is fishing rope from any fishing shop. Those are really strong and it makes a perfect combo with a fishing weight tied at the end.

As for the "ah pek", theres really not much you can do. He may not admit to taking the plane since you have no evidence against him. Not to pour cold water, but its abit difficult to get the plane back at this juncture.
              Hope you understand.

              Thanx!

it shouldn't be dificult to get this guy, because the person that told you it "MIGHT" be this "ah pek" guy may have actually seen him take it but just dosn't want to get involved. also maybe you should report to COPS "missing glider" tell them that some one suspects that "ah pek" took it and then they can use there authoritie to get it back for you, alternatively he may be a nice guy and be desperately looking for the owner(this is highly unlikely but nice to be abit positive)
I hope you get your plane back
                GOOD LUCK

I share the same sentiments too... but he sure gave a strong clue. But on the hindsight, I think if there really are people eyeing our prized birds for the purpose of selling back to fellow fliers & earning some quick bucks, i think it should be too hard as I think this hobby community is pretty small. But I hope we shdnt buy anything from him in any case to prevent him from stealing more 'birds'. - Well one thing, I am just ill-assuming that he is thinking of profitting, he could really turn out to be just looking for the owner.

I will still go back later and ask around. Guess the feeling is like losing a loved pet

                  Thanks brudders!

                      Thanks bro!

Yeah its my fav plane and i had spend endless hours modifying it to obtain the perfect pitching. I went back to the reservoir yesterday morning and evening to ask around but seems like the people in the vicinity never heard of that person. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that somehow I can find it back :|
