Quad copter setup

Can someone advise me or direct me find more basic info on setup.
I got the control board from HK. Now trying to figure out.
Very basic questions like :
1. On my DX6i, should it be airplane or heli model?
2. I tried using airplane mode, can trottle up, but no left,right,fwd,back control.
3. how to setup gyro? Yaw needs to be zero to set throttle range? then yaw go back to ?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks....

Im not familiar with clone kk boards. best bet would be the folks over at rcgroups in the multi-rotor section. good luck.
