The MT stock head is perfectly all right, until the rotor hit something. The damages could be from any of the parts in the rotor assembly. Things like twisted balls, bent levels, bent screws, blade grips, etc. Any of these will contribute to the tracking problem.
For hovering, a 1" out of track is still ok. At least for me.
Since you have the stock setup, use it. When ware, change all to metal. If budget constrain, change part by part. Starting with the rotor hub, washout base and levels, pitch levels, main rotor grips, flybar levels.Share the joy of flying . . .

BTW Guys. FYI. Aeromodelling has already been accepted as a recognize sport by SSC.. Hence, when the parents ask.. Why are you spending so much time with your toy?? Your reply can now be.. No mum.. This is a sport.. not a toy.
