    Old Holland Road

I heard Old Holland Road received a visit from our friends in blue yesterday. RC flying is no longer allowed there. Any bros out there know the reasons why?

    Hi,

I read with concern that we have men in blue coming over to check on RC sites.

I can think of a few possible reasons though i am not sure which one may the truth :

    1. The place is getting dirty. Please, this is a rather up market place. if i am staying there, i hate to see litter on my jogging track

    2. Fliers arent paying enough attention to safety. I see some really big birds there... and we all know the safety records of these planes. Even a good pilot crashes, so i hope everyone can fly safely. By that , i mean the simple basic rules like not flying near the road, track . Doing your 3D stunts away a good distance of 2m away from the pavement . Not flying above another person head , especially for those low passess. Madien a plane away again from the pavement...
Let peopl know you are landing if you are going to do so.... etc etc..

Okie, enough of me being a real bore here. I think it is the though of working tommorow that is getting me really long winded and naggy...

Actually, I believe there is aredi a few signboards there ! (Similar to the one below !)

But it reads "This Field is for community and recreational use"

....If flying RC Models is NOT "recreational" .....I dunno what is !

Haiz ! .....SOME Singaporeans only know how to complain only !

Seriously running out of ...Storage space !

Story sounds good enough to go into the newspaper, especially on how our friends in blue responded. However, it may jeopardise the hobby islandwide. Maybe if someone staying in that constituency can meet the MP...

Bros. I believe there may have been some incident that happen which trigger these complains. I've never been to that field, hence won't know if any of the houses there are near the field.. But if anyone happen to have flown off the track, then I guess residence will show some concern, and the worse that can happen is when one of the resident happen to drop by for a look see and receive snobbish respond.. Then that will sure to raise the temperature..

I believe there are no regular groups in this field. and current flyer may not know what may have happen 1 hour ago. Hence, I guess it's better to stick within a group, and draw up some safty rules.

As for the man in blues.. They're just doing their job, and whatever happen.. Just keep smiling and listen to what they have to say, and please do not argue, and start packing immediately..

                    Anyway, safe flying..

Me and my bro have flown there once, I must say it's a great place to fly.

However the concern might have been raised as residents nearby brought their kids and dogs to the same field to play freesbie, fly kite or other stuff. Imagine if a 50 size nitro heli lost control and crash landed...

It's on the ST forums dude.

Anyway - I think you need a private radio licence to operate totally legally if I recall correctly.
"Always fly with a responsible attitude. You may think that flying low over other people’s heads is proof of your piloting skill; others know better. The real expert does not need to prove himself in such childish ways..." - the Multiplex Build Manual

2.4GHz is a free.....No license needed....If they want to put a stop, they will find anything.....LPG and electricity at home are risky too....But that GXX use at home anyway....What is risky or not depends on the user/users....

I second that, safety is the resonpsiblity of the users, a car can be v dangerous too if not handled properly, besides it contains petrol which is more likely to explode than nitro...must as well ban cars on the road altogether..
