    TREX CDE abd stability

Hi, have been trying to keep the TREX hovering in a stable manner but failed to keep it still for more than 5 secs.

1 managed to trim all the controls and I think they should be quite ok.

2 have been hovering at about 1meter off the ground to avoid ground effect. But still couldn't keep the fella stable. I think its the pilot. Hand like legs. when the fella starts to driff, I start to kanjiong. . What could be wrong?

3 what is the minimum voltage of a 3s1p should be after flying. It shouldn't go below what voltage? approx 9v?

4 upgraded to the new cf frame(couldn't resist). some parts feels filmsy. Especially the bolts and nuts which goes into the cf. Quite easily stripped. I changed all the screws, is afraid that I'll strip the heads, which is quite easily done.

    thx and regards

    Hi
Let me see whether I can answer some of your question here:
1 managed to trim all the controls and I think they should be quite ok.

2 have been hovering at about 1meter off the ground to avoid ground effect. But still couldn't keep the fella stable. I think its the pilot. Hand like legs. when the fella starts to driff, I start to kanjiong. . What could be wrong?
Make really sure your heli is properly trim. Swash plate is as level as possible.
If heli vibrate, chances is that u have either bended shaft or unbalance blades/paddles/flybar lenght or unequal blade pitch. When u have such problem, your heli tend to be unstable. For beginner, try to reduce your cyclic throw by reducing the endpoint or change the dualrate/expo. Once you have balance heli, your heli will not drift so much.

3 what is the minimum voltage of a 3s1p should be after flying. It shouldn't go below what voltage? approx 9v?
Each Li-Poly minimum recommended cut off is 3V per cell. So, 3S is 9V. U still can go lower than 9V but u will shorten the bettery life. If goes below 2.1V per cell, Li-Poly will go to open circuit stage.

4 upgraded to the new cf frame(couldn't resist). some parts feels filmsy. Especially the bolts and nuts which goes into the cf. Quite easily stripped. I changed all the screws, is afraid that I'll strip the heads, which is quite easily done.
This one I haven't try due to not rich enuff to spend it. Try not to overscrew it. BTW... For beginner, try not to use those blink body parts... unless u have deep pocket. Beginner tend to crash more often. BTW.. One thing I have notice is that, the more heavy the heli is, the more stable it hover/fly. (Not sure abt 3D yet)

      stability

Hi, Super Hornet. thx for all the constant help.
Just so I got u right.

uneven blade pitch= adjust ball links right
uneven weight= sticky tapes on lighter side
bent whatever= change, no choice, no other way

9v is the safe zone, ok. so don't fly until drop in rpm.

heavy=stable. got it. however it should have shorterflight time, due to weight.
I also read your post in runryder.

      thx

        Yup Yup.

Normally when battery going to reach 9V, your heli would able to take off anyway.

temperature of motor, esc and batteries

Hi, roughly how hot will the motor, esc and batts be after say about 8 mins of hovering?

          mine feels like this:

esc= quite hot, can only touch for about 1-2 secs b4 it gets too hot to the feel

batts: feels like quite warm. for comparison its like the temp of a nimh batt being charged at 1.5amps for a 2300mah batt.

          motor: feels ok, just warm

is the mega 16/15/3 motor good for the following usage?

1 better headspeed with lower amp draw?
2 better suited for the 3s1p batt?
3 reduce temps of the a/m parts?
          4 longer flight time?

the rest of my TREX electronics is the one that came with ie
          align 25A esc
          align bl 420 motor.

what do I stand to gain if any, if I were to keep the rest stock?

          thx and best regards

can i noe where u place ur ESC? i saw some where which i think is a good idea.. putting the Rx on the right side below the main gear and the ESC on the left side.. but on the out side.. more ventilation..

do u think it it is a good idea>???
