    Please help Reflex Som Owners!

I just bought a REFLEX 4.02 which comes/bundled with an XTR update disc. The problem is that the cable is not working. When I was at the LHS, I asked them to check if the cable was working to save me the trouble of going back if there's a problem.

Unfortunately, the interface cable also does not work on their pc. The LHS guys told me that its because of their pc and not the cable and guaranteed to me that it would work or else I can return it anytime.

When I got home, I installed in on my windows xp desktop PC and I always get the error below when I plug the interface cable:

    "USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message."

When you check the USB devices in the hardware devices, it detects an unknow device.

I then installed reflex on my son's windows xp desktop pc and still got the same error.

Lastly, I tried to install it on my windows2K laptop and I still get the unknown USB device detected.

I followed the reflex help file to manually install reflex.inf but the hardware manager does not detect this as a valid driver file.

Am I doing something wrong? The cable could'nt be detected properly on three working pcs where RealFlight G2 is working properly.

Is the cable faulty and should I return it back? I would like to exhaust all means before I try to return the reflex sim back to the LHS.

Thanks for any help in advance!

    hi fdc,

think it's very likely the cable is faulty...installed mine without such problem...everytime i plug in the usb...xp makes a "ding" sound...although no icon appears, the cable works when the program loads...

did u try other version like 4.0 or 4.03 which can be downloaded from the reflex.com? if it still doesnt work, u shld go back to the lhs...

fyi...the xtr version is out...$2 for a copy or send a request to reflex.com... they will send u a copy foc...

Spidey... his came with the XTR bundled.

      Try with another transmitter first.

My cable problem was finally isolated to the FF9 adaptor. It work at the shop but not anywhere else. I had to manually solder a wire to pull one of the pin to ground to get it working.
      huh

Mine was 4.02 with the burned XTR update CD. The i/f cable was not able to work with their JR TXs as well as my 9CHP as the problem was with the USB connection and not I/F cable to Tx connection.

Think I have to return it back.

            Hi Nic,

OK, my problem was solved after I posted on the Reflex website forum. Wolfgang actually offered to replace the I/F cable FOC if I send the defective one back to him. Anyway, another reflex owner with the same problem posted how he solved his i/f cable problem. True enough, I found a totally loose and disconnected cable inside the pcb housing. I re-soldered it and viola! It's now working!

With regards to your FF9 adapter, did you also buy it from the same LHS? Was it the robbe adapter cable? It is also not working for my 9CHP? If it's the same, then I guess I can fix it myself based on your experience and spare the effort going back to the LHS to get it replaced (or probably all of the robbe adapters are like that?)

The FF9 cable adapter I bought from NTC (FF9 adapter cable for G2) was working fine for the Reflex Sim so I guess the robbe FF9 adapter cable was not meant to be used for the Reflex Sim.

            Thanks guys for the help!

Yup.. I got it from the same LHS. It didn't work because the ground pin is not suffiently pulled to ground. So.. just solder a jumper cable to the "metal casing".. that somehow will pull it down sufficiently.
              huh

My first Reflex from that Local Hobby shop did not work well too... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.... like what you have found out, the cables came loose inside that black little encasement. I re-soldered mine too and it worked. Seems like some quality control problem

                so how Reflex flying

I need to sit in the balcony under the sun and keep a bottle of Nitro opened to make it more relastic.

Nothing beats flying my real Rappy.
