my honest opinion..i find the lama boring..its cute, nice to have but the joy would die off very quicky..you can hover at home..ok......so what?..show friends, relative, kids? err..rc to me is more for personal satisfaction..i have a lama at home..nib some more..bought thinking i can influent my friends to fly heli but later thought it's just a waste of my time..if they want, they come, if not, i fly with my new friends..
if you want to learn hover..get a decent simulator..a G2 will get you a long way..can go 3D somemore..no need charge batteries..no need spares..cheaper than lama..for 2nd hand..
otherwise, you can learn hover on a bigger heli oso..easier too..more kick and real too..
personal opinion hor..not trying to discouraging anybody against lama or look down on it..
