Trex 550e or Kds Innova 550?

    Dear Bros out there,

I have one earnest request. Wish to upgrade to bigger heli from 450. Been contemplating and shortlisted the above 2. Both runs on 6S which suits me fine.

My concerns are more on handling of the heli and of course costs/availability of the spares. Pricing I've checked align is $100 more.

In a nutshell, which is more forgiving to a beginner like me?

Anyone who owns either like to give their 2 cents worth?

Appreciate all your advice in advanced!! :-)

    Thank u thank u.

The availability of spares from Rotor makes me biased towards TREX.
For a 100 more I would definite go for the TREX.
    Too many helis!

      .

      This is quite complicate question.
Trex benefit is u can easily get spares from rotor. Also 550 shares many parts with 600, that's good thing.
And buy from local shop then when u get a problem they will help u it's also good for beginner.

kds innova series are also quite nice heli. but there is a few problem for beginner.
      1. manual is insufficient.
      2. limited info abt the heli and electronic.
      3. u need some modify when u build it up.

and U need to order the spares from oversea, but good thing is spare price, It's much cheaper than align. except main rotor, other parts are really cheap.
innova 700 spare price is nearly trex 500 spare price.

Here is size comparison from my friend.
Innova 600, beam Avantgarde, Innova 550 and trex 550.
The innova series are bigger than usual size of helis. so kds 550 is not a big head as trex 550. lol

Actually I builed up every size of newest version of align heli 250 ~ 700(I quite like the align)
550(v1) was good..becoz a bit smaller than 600 and electronics are almost same.(so have a quite nice performance)

But now..600e pro use 12s and new design..500E pro also follow the 600e pro.

550E v2 is still old design. yes, the head and some parts are follow the newest but, some parts like frame are I think even worse than v1. And option parts..550e v2 is not pro version, so there are pretty few plastic parts as servo horn, elevator guide, helical gear..etc..
also supercombo esc is same as 500E pro(align 70A) the esc with 500e works great, the esc with 550e well..too hot..

550 is still good choice and maybe other ppl not agree with me. but for my standard, 500e and 600e are the best choice in recent align lineup.

here is some pic of 500e pro, 550e v2, 600e pro.

          cheers

            Trex 550

My recommendation is also Trex550. It is the most stable and reliable heli I have ever built. I built five (V1/V2 only FBL) and all worked without any problem on the first flight. I prefer Trex550 with BeastX. You do not need to buy parts from Rotor, you can get it online from US or Asia. Many 550 parts are not available in Rotor.
Everyone has to start this hobby as newbie.

Another great alternative is to stretch an Atom to 5.5. Flys really well & if you run
bigger batts, will provide you longer flight times & as much stability as the Trex 550.
How do I know ? Coz I fly both.
