    Need help training student pilots

    Dear all,

we are trying to set up a youth hobby club for some ITE students and wishes to find some members who are interested to work with youths to help us train them for a school event.

They need to fly some r/c helis for a school fly past.

We are also looking at the best helis for this kinda stuff.

Anyone with experiences with this kinda stuff, please reply and help us!

    Appreciate it!

    Thanks!

Flying heli takes some time to train to be proficient. It wont happen overnight.

When is ur event gona happen???

Well if you guys could consider fixed pitch helis instead, i am sure the students are able to pick it up by themselves overnight without any training.. just let them play around with it and they should be doing quite alright.. since its just a event i dont think there is a requirement for it to be collective pitch would there?
      Regards,
      Xuen7

        Hi Guys,

thanks for replying to the thread... the event is on the 25th Feb and we simply need to fly the helis straight past a grandstand thats all. Simply flight.

What models of helis are good to fly and easy to learn?

It has to be quite a big heli though as it is done on a field and track.

        Thanks!

It'll seem easy to fly big sized birds in a straight line with flags attached below for any regular fliers. However, mastering & overcoming their fear of controlling with precision does not complete with a mths grace. It could be bearly smooth even with everyday practise. Consider the safety & heavy catastrophe consequences should any thing fails in the midst. Why not engage a few pro pilots to buddy system cord fly for your event for contingency plans.

PS: U might want to see the effects of a huge bird crashing to be prepared..

            .

Like daveth idea but i would just suggest asking some of the flyer here to fly this birds..

            1. is danger with a month of practise and the cost of repair.
            2. still the same.
            3. still the same.

flying with a trainer help , i would seriously think don't waste time unless he/ she is going to continue this hobby.

            it is not TOY.

            cheer.

I would agree so with Tearsnitez. We fly a a hobby & deep passion whilst not a one time event call off. Engaging team members to demonstrate or make grand your event is more cost effective unless your club is willing to proceed long term in the school or representing national aero-modeling yearly events or school special functions. Not to discourage u but we're giving some feasible options. Nevertheless, the pricing estimates as follows:

To carry weights & fly in synchro line attached with flags across grandstand:
              1. 90sized 700birds full setup with Transmitters x 5: S$2800ea x 5= S$14000
              2. 50sized 600birds full setup with Transmitters x 5: S$1800ea x 5= S$9000

              3. To engage pilots flying per day etc or in hourly rate: Much cheaper for a day.
I hope I bring some light to your budget & efforts to the club if u wishes to invest in big ones...

daveth is rite. no way the kids would be able to handle a heli in that span of time unless it's feb 2013. Maybe I am retarded but I took about 6months to hover then another month for side hover before proceeding to forward flight. All were 450 birds and suffered multiple crashes. Never handle a 600 bird unless one is truly ready, the potential damage is more than anyone can imagine. Just imagine the bird going towards the GOH, think the organiser of event can look for new job liao.

Thanks guys for the great advise! Really appreciate it!

Would anyone of you be interested to help?

If you are keen, can you contact "Chee San" at 98367763?

We really need all the help we can get to get started.

Once we clear the event/hurdle on the 25th Feb, we are looking at getting our students to learn and fly these on a long term basis.

                  Thanks!

[QUOTE=Protoseni;542035]Hah dezchong, give you a ideal lah.... Just go and buy RC Flying Shark Fly Over with carry whatever Flag .. Each Shark carry different Team....Fun & Easy for your... Cheap Cheap Only..ITE Can Afford this...]

Brother Protoseni, u're a talented designer in Quad & we're indeed impressed & admire your abilities. I've been observing threads & had to give a thumbs up for your designs. RC Flying Shark & Nemo of helium blown is best for indoor demonstrations. U're right to assume I had these & in a pair that I had. Many vendors LHS has including Aerosmith, Rotor Enterprise, Jethobby & Skyhobbies etc. Not necessary do I know that but many do. Even the latest "angry bird" design is out.

Give grace for him or beginners to have a starter view or experience & exposure. I believe Bro Dezchong is not a kid to initiate a possible club for his school. Everyone needs a dream to follow on & I believe u're the same when u're young. Money does not mean everything. I know it may not succeed or even serve your purpose behind but nevertheless I will always keep my word & showhand even lost in every gamble.

Give chance for them to see. Hobby that makes money everytime won't be a passion for anyone of us & it will & shall be short-termed. Take care bro.

                          .

Rc shark? there is Rc Nemo etc. Lol.

Actually if you know how to import you can get it dirt cheap power with helium gas confirm can fly.

But if you want you can Try Co Axial with those rubber blades.. fly time about 5 mins. distance of coz cannot compare to our quality transmitter.

                          Should be quite cheap.

or you can get GoFlyKite to demo in your school. think they will love to help..

                          and lastly daveth team.

                            Getting more detail

                            Hi Dezchong,
I believe Mr. Daveth n the bros here had given the some pointers here.

I would look at it as:
                            Heli size : 700 or 60/90 nitro
                            Flag: standard national flag.
The flight line : left to right, right to left?
Pilot: where is he standing ?
                            Safety?
                            Wind direction?
length of the rope to hang the flag n weight...

If possible, post a detail of the date, time n place to meet and the bros, who are able to make it will bring their heli down to do some demo.

There will be more rehearsal to come by.
You will need 2 helis, 2 pilots.. more supporters..

As for club set up, u can linkup to youth flying club for more detail.

                            Hope it help..

                            Cheers

I like your idea. Get Johnny, Ben, Ryu and Kenny to fly 3D with flag paste on their Heli canopy in the school. It will be spectacular.
