its very important for FBL controller to have piro comp for aerobatic flight.
its not so essential for scale usage.
in a nutshell here is what it does.
when fly a flybar heli. u give right aileron input the heli will bank right. now u start to give rudder input the heli will keep flying to the right and piro.
for the early 2 axis FBL controllers without tail gyro, this cannot be done as the FBL controller has no idea which direction the heli is pointing! so when u do the same move, the heli will haywire.
nowadays all FBL controller are 3 axis, thus can sense its heading. what it does is that it compensates for piro movement of the heli and keep the swash fixed to a certain orientation when the heli is piro-ing and moving at the same time. it thus mimics a normal flyabar heli.
