Found this hidden deep in helifreak forums.

Very interesting. direct motor driving the tail through a torque tube.
this means a seperate power system for the tail. it would be easy to force
the tail to hold the tail rotor speed with a governor on the ESC via a separate auxiliary channel.

its would be really heavy and more complicated though. but just thought it was interesting and worth a share.

Checkout Smart Model scale heli Blue Thunder, it is also separate tail power but belt drive for the fenestron tail.
