Any 1 Convert Esky lama 3 to Brushless?

    Hi all,

I need help on how to convert lama3 to brushless motor.

I'm using Dsx6i, how to do setting on the hand set?

    how many ECS I need?

    Hi
That's quite a broad question and difficult to provide clear advice. Please let me suggest some direction instead. At least you'll have a response in the forum.

For the motor, Esky provides some standard upgrades I believe. You can give Rotor a call. Using the Esky ones will save you the hassle of esc / motor matchup.

I know as I started with a King2 and motor change options got too complicated. Eventually got the Esky upgrade. There is just so much to learn to setup electrics safely.

I don't know what's an ECS. Did you mean ESC? You will need to change this when upgrading to the brushless motor. Again use Esky upgrade for simplicity.

For the transmitter setup, you might want to go through your manual again as I've not used that model before. Just take note that rebinding will be important. Maybe some changes to pitch and throttle settings given the new motor headspeed too.

There is a good video on Tx setup by Finless Bob under Heli 101 in the tech room on Helifreak if you've not already been there. Good place to start, I download all the videos and watch them over and over when on my business trips. Keeps me out of trouble!!! There is always something new to pick up.

The bros here are quite helpful but I've learned that to get a good answer, my question has to be quite focused. Means you gotta know what you don't know, then ask the right question.

Forgive me if presumptuous but I also asked similiarly broad questions here too. A nice bro helped me out and I wanted to pay forward the favour.

    Safe flying
    Ken

Not sure if a lama v3 is similar to a lama v4, but you could refer to my thread if they're similar.

I use the C10 motors and you will need 2 ESCs.

Regarding your transmitter programming, you could use a v-tail mixer which apparently would make the job alot easier. if not you'll just have to mix the relevant channels. it's hard to describe here.

Ok first of all, I need to tell you that I do not use a v-tail mixer and have absolutely no idea how to use it because I fried mine during the conversion.

So mixing is done using the program t6config that came with my hk tx. So you have your two escs plugged in to ch 3 and ch 4. Then with the corresponding program that dx6i (sorry I'm not familiar with the higher end tx, I use budget haha) you're going to mix channel 3 and 4 such that when you move throttle, channel 4 goes up the same amount as channel 3. That's for throttle so you'll see both motors firing up at roughly the same time.

For yaw, you'll have to mix ch3 and 4 again such that when you yaw the heli, it doesn't drop or gain altitude. It's hard to explain but you mix it such that when you move the yaw stick, ch 3 goes up like 10 units and ch4 goes down 3 units for example. Every heli requires different mixing for yaw

For the gyro, plug it into either channel 3 or 4, I plug it into my upper rotors I think. Then change the gain to an appropirate level like on the 4in1.

I have helped a bro convert to my version before. Takes like 4hrs I think from completely stock condition.
