Help needed: Setup of Align GP780 gyro

Howdy folks, need advice from Bros on the proper setup of this "erratic" gyro. Read through helifreak & other forums but somehow still cannot get this gyro to work right. It held up well during normal flight but when I switched the heli to IU mode, it was wagging like a puppy's tail and would also at times rudder without any inputs from the tx(scary crap!).

In any instance, I still attempted a couple of flips on the beam. The first two attempts went well but the third ended in a crash which costed me a pair of blades, a spindle shaft and most likely a main shaft but it was at a low altitude.

Anyone here with any good luck on this baby? I tried the following but it was pretty futile:

1) physical installation of gyro-foam-metal plate-foam;
2) strapped the gyro with velcro
3) using a dx6i with 66% gain on the gyro. TR servo is DS520 and 9257. Both servos hold extremely well during hover but once in IU mode, happy puppy syndrome sets in.

3M Clear Mounting Tape??

I am no expert, far from it. Actually only hovered about 9 packs thus far.

But have you read this? Post #79 is my solution, but you should read page 1 and post #14.

I am using a 20x20mm piece of the above tape at the bottom, with another 4 pieces of 7x7mm squares at each corner of the 20x20mm. Effectively double layer.

I understand that your problem exists only in IU, but maybe this will help, so that in IU mode you can drop your gain from normal but still have sufficient gain in HH mode. 66% in normal means less in IU, could be too low when you go IU.

Balancing

I also balanced the blades etc to reduce vibration.
I mounted the gyro in the stock location of the 450 Sport. Not sure where the GP780 goes in the Beam. Strapping with velcro is imho a bad thing, as it allows more vibration to get to the gyro. The 3M tape is very sticky and (fingers crossed) should not let go.
