checking lipo condition in the field

How do you check battery levels in the field to avoid over discharge?

A friend suggested a clamp muilti amp meter but they're quite expensive.

Me and Adrianli using a small device (PCB with LCD display) that you plug into the battery's balancer point and it read back the voltage for each cells. U can use that. Me and Adrianli got it from "H-ObbyCiTy" (Purposely rename in order to bypass the word filtering check). Can't remember the model name.

It can also plug a buzzer on the board and it will sound when the battery reaches certain voltage.

If you are using Hitec Aurora 9, you can upgrade the firmware to v1.07 and it has the feature of read back the battery voltage through receiver and then you can set your TX to sound when the voltage reaches certain voltage.

What do u want to measure/do by the way?
Are u going to read the current or voltage?

For current, it is either the clamp type (clamp can read current. Not voltage. Voltage, the clamp meter require to connect the probe) or "Watt Meter" or Eagle tree. These can give u the realtime reading. Do take note that the clamp type normally has the accuracy of 1Amp. Anything finer resolution will be quite expensive.

For non realtime current readback, Eagle tree or if u are using Castle Creation's ESC of their "ICE" series.

For voltage readback, this can be the one mentioned above (board or aurora 9 readback) or even watt meter, ICE esc or Eagle tree.

Wanted to monitor voltage to avoid over discharge and ruin the lipo. The LCD sounds good
