I was very upset that TSK shut down in the fall of 2001.
And ironically at that time Raptor was entering the market, it wasn't that bad.

But then again....metal will always be metal...

Flight pics of 2003 in Punggol....

If I m not wrong, Raptor was designed by former Kalt engineers.

To be specific, I found the 1999 review of the Raptor....very nice to read, just makes you want to go buy one immediately..

Mr. Shigetada Taya, the ingenious designer of the successful Concept 30 has done it again. Mr. Taya has teamed up with Thunder Tiger to bring us an awesome, new 30-size helicopter, called the Raptor. We have flown it extensively and it is truely wonderful. We first saw it displayed at the 1998 Toledo Show. Then it was demonstrated for the first time at the 1998 IRCHA Jamboree in Ohio. Everyone who saw it fly was impressed. It was a stock Raptor 30 doing 3-D flips while climbing at the same time. It performed backward rolls, deathspins, and the whole nine yards. The model is super agile and very stable at the same time. We were impressed. People all wanted to know when they can get one. Well, the Raptor is available now!

First, let's give an introduction to the designer, Mr. Taya, and his partner, Thunder Tiger. Taya was the F3C World Champion of the first RC helicopter world championship. The first RC helicopter world championship was held in Ontario, Canada in 1985. Taya flew an original design Italian Agusta A-109 fuselage with modified TSK and Kalt mechanics. Subsequently, Taya designed the sleek Omega Jet Stream fuselage for Kalt. Mr. Taya is an engineer by trade. He owns the Taya Engineering firm in Japan. In 1988, he introduced his first complete RC helicopter design, the Concept 30 DX and Concept 30 SE. He sold the manufacturing rights to Kyosho. The Concept 30 immediately became the best selling RC helicopter in the world. The Concept 30 was so easy to fly, it taught many people how to fly RC helicopters. The Concept was also a nimble machine. Many people successfully learned how to do switchless inverted flying and basic 3-Ds with the old Concept 30. Before Kyosho discontinued the Concept 30 line in 1997, the Concept 30 SRX was the most popular 30-size 3-D helicopter in Japan. After ten years of life, Kyosho discontinued the Concept 30 and replaced it with a Kyosho designed Nexus 30. The Nexus is a stable helicopter, but it does not have the sporty feel of a Concept 30.

Taya's second RC helicopter design was the 30-size Enforcer. Taya sold the Enforcer design to Kalt around 1990. The Enforcer is also a very nice flying helicopter with many innovative features. Unfortunately, at that time Kalt helicopters were distributed by Hobby Dynamics in the US, and Hobby Dynamics was not successful at handling the Kalt line.

The Raptor is Taya's third RC helicopter design. This time Taya did not sell his design, instead, he is working in cooporation with Thunder Tiger, the famous engine...................................follow the link below for full report.

Below is the picture of my first Raptor 30V1.
