Need help on go separate for my CCPM honeybee.

Recently i accidently burn the 4 in 1 receiver. I intend to make it goes separate with direct drive tail.

Right now i have a futaba 9chp and a gyro. What should i purchase to complete the picture?

I need to get a new receiver for it. I have a 40 mhz module. Can i buy any 6 channel receiver?

How much would it cost to convert it to go separate and have direct tail drive?
How should i set the TX? Set it to ccpm mode?

Any help would be appreacited. Thanks in advance. BTW it is using li-ion battery with 1100 mah rating and normal brushes motor.

was also thinking of doing something like it but the cost a bit high for me.

For 5005 Honey Bee 2 CP (original parts)
      $140 - 6 Ch Receiver & Mixer Speed Control
$32 - Mini Receiver (without crystal)
      $22 - Crytal TX/RX
      $87 - "3 in 1" Mixer Speed Gyro Controller 3D

      $104 - Futaba R146IP 6ch (smaller vers) PCM 40mhz Rx

others i m not sure, hope this help a bit

Thanks pilot bear. I intend to go with GWS ecs and mixer. Cheaper...
Problem is i don`t know how they work and how to connect.

The stock 4in1 receiver really sucks. The setting change with battery power remanding. More ever the gyro has hard time to maintain the tail as well.
The original controller also sucks. Too Stiff. Thats why i wanna go separate and fly it with futaba 9chp. Wonder would u manage to fly it with 9chp since u have one too.

I burned the receiver when i accidently throttle up The TX while i holding it.
It stripped the main gear after that the receiver go smoking.... .
        Pilot error....

my Tx is a 40mhz , my HoneyBee is on 72mhz.

          i have 3 choice :
          1. change module for my Tx to 72mhz = $80
          2. change rx + mixing to 40mhz = $140
(if seperate meaning have to buy esc, gyro, etc, which all i dont have )
          3. no change = $0

unless i burn it, think i will stick to the default equipment.

Do give us an update on the progress and $$$ ??

To go separates, u will need..

            1. RX on the SAME frequency as ur TX (w/ crystal).
            2. Gyro
            3. ESC x 2 (1 for main, 1 for tail)

            The full instructions are here..

As for direct drive, juz need to find the correct motor and mount..
Maybe u can try the GWS Dragonfly DD Mount fm Pips Hobby..

Thanks guys. Now i have some idea what does it really looks like.
Well i had call Phillips from Pips hobby and understand some of the processes and connections.

Phiber is right about the electronics needed. To make it short, i need 2 esc and a receiver with a pair of cystals. I also need to purchase the tail motor housing together with the tail fin together with the motor.

All in all i roughly need to fork out around sgd 160.

              Here is the break down:-

              1. gws esc-50, sgd 22+/-
              2. gws esc-300, sgd 24+/-
              3. gws 6 channel receiver, sgd 45+/-
              4. futaba original cystals, sgd 25
              5. gyro gws PG-03, sgd 83+/- ( i have spare ****** nt300 gyro)
              6. direct tail setup, (motor +tail housing), 30 +/-
              7. workmanship and TX programming, sgd 20

So i got to fork our around sgd 160 coz i have a spare gyro and the process only took the expert around 30 minutes.

talking about burning , how do you guys keep yr motor cool ???

i m currently only attaching a "cooling fin" thing to the main motor and tail,
was wondering if anyone had tried it with "Termal Compound" + fin ??

                  about the "Termal Compound"
it is something that is apply between the computer CPU and the fan thing, help to conduct heat from cpu to fan. in gel form .

anyone anyone ??? good result ??

Good idea. But once u apply how r u gonna stik it on the motor?

do not have to stick it on, the cooling fin hug the motor nicely.

the only problem is to apply an even layer, the thermal compound is not what i would say "easily to spread on"

Anyway, i tried it out yesterday, "think" the fin conduct the heat more faster
                      I can't prove it anywhere.

Theoretically yes. U see if cpu without the compound it might burns becoz of uneven contact and heat cannot disperse correctly. Should help but i doubt it does much help as motor not as hot as cpu.

Have you tested your new project ???
