Using Optic 6 for Lama v3

I want to use my Optic 6 to fly Lama v3 instead of being stuck with the stock E-sky TX. Problem is, I cannot get the 4-in-1 to respond...

Optic 6 is running with HPF-MI + 72.65 Hitec TX crystal. I plugged a Hitec RX single-conversion crystal, matching freq, into the Lama's 4-in-1... but nothing works.

Anyone tried using Optic 6 or other TXs with E-sky RXs or 4-in-1 before? What's the correct configuration required?

I've read in US RC forums that Optic 6 with Spectra module can be used for Lama v3, as long as a matching Hitec single conversion RX crystal is inserted into the 4-in-1... not sure if this is true, but then, it should also work with the HPF-MI

I am using my 9CHP to control my Honey FP on 72Mhz band. No problem at all. What I suspect:

    1. Change your Optic6 to use -ve shift
    2. Get the GWS or Esky crystal instead.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers,
    Ang

I'm using my optic6 on the esky lama v4 with no issues. Crystal used in the 4in1 is a hitec single conversion type.

Maybe try as ang said, swtich the fm shift to negative.

Forgot to mention, I'm already on negative shift

Futaba TX with Futaba crystals seem to work fine with E-sky RXs... this has also been reported.

I've tried plugging E-sky TX crystal into the Hitec HPF-MI, paired with E-sky crystal in the 4-in-1... doesn't work either.

Anyway I'm going to try one suggestion received from other forums, which is to reverse the throttle channel...

Apparently, if the throttle is detected as anything more than zero, the 4-in-1 will refuse to arm..... of course, before I try anything like this - will pull out the motor connections first!

Might be the Hitec crystal not compatible with E-sky receiver. Also have to check if the receiver is for Lo band or Hi Band. From what I know, the Esky receivers are only for Low Band(72.01 - 72.47).

            Optic 6 with Lama - ??

I thought about crystal brand compatibility, but as tootyful mentioned in his posting... shouldn't be a problem.

As for the lo and hi band issue for 72 MHz, is it a real problem? I've read before that RXs calibrated for LO Band (Ch 35: 72.490 MHz and below) cannot be used with HI Band (greater than 72.490 MHz) crystals, and vice versa - but is this an absolute CANNOT, or just less optimized but still possible to use?

Anyway, the 4-in-1 was originally 72.810 MHz, HI Band, just like the Hitec crystal I'm using, 72.650 MHz...

            OR

The 4-in-1 is absolutely old model, and this is causing the problem... (does not even have the Gain and Proportion screws, so it's obviously from early days ) Need to buy a new 4-in-1 to try out

i try mine (72.120) with a default heli set up, it works, and on the 4 in 1 it states 35hmz...
but the throttle control is werid....

What you mean by "weird"? Reversed? How did you managed to get a 35 MHz 4-in-1 to work with 72 MHz crystal??

Anyway, I figured that for my problem, the 4-in-1 wasn't even linked - even the servos cannot be moved... Probably cos I do not have the latest 4-in-1 installed... the Lama v3 that I have is really pretty old, and the 4-in-1 seems to be earlier generation type, different from what is stocked in hobby shops these days. Got to buy a new 4-in-1 to test out...

i think your is the slimmer 4 in 1?
                  i think it is a 3 in 1.
one 4 in 1 is expensive out there.
if the stock one can use, don't have waste money...
with the money save, you can get spare blades, and motors.

Yes, it's the older (and slimmer) version of the 4-in-1 that I have. And right you are, a new 4-in-1 is about $57

Not worth getting it just to link up to my Optic 6...
