Trex500 owners pls help! Tail like chopper!!

    Hi guys,
Me searching for solution for a fren who owns a trex 500. He has vertical tail vibes at hovering after a crash. After consultation at a LHS - he changed main shaft and tail rotor blades. Problem persist and I took a look to help find the problem. Heli has perfect main blade tracking. tail blades track perfectly too.

    Findings:
    1. Heli rocked back and forth on table just by spinning main shaft by hand (main blades removed)

    2. Auto rotation gear slightly warped viewed from side.

    3. Main gear has free play. can be rocked at least 2mm up n down each direction. Is this normal for trex500??

    4. We disengaged tail belt from tail drive gear. Hand spinning did not induce fwd back rocking.

    5. Belt re assembled and test hover. Rocking motion noted while heli spooling down - main gear stop spinning oredy-

    My suspicions:
    1. Main/auto rotation sleeve damaged/bent?
    2. Warped autorotation gear causing vert vibes? **
    3. Tail shaft bent? (but track ok leh n pitch sliding mechanism is silky smooth)

** The 'vibes' are not violent and fast. Rather a chopping motion at a rate of about 1-2 chops a sec. Hope it paints a clear pic.

    Any input greatly appreciated guys!!

1.u shldnt have too much play on any of the gears.. if it is too warped would advise changing them
2.check tail shaft. spin up by hand and see from the side and top. if there is a blur, it is bent. Make sure the heli doesnt rock while spinning the head(hold it down)

does it nod in flight? if it does, it maybe because headspeed is too low, increase T%. If it doesnt vibrate during flight, i wouldnt be concerned abt it.

I crashed my Trex 500 recently and also found that the pitch slider on the tail is silky smooth. But when I removed the tail shaft, it is slightly bend. I would suggest you to change the tail shaft.

hmmm, bro, dun mind if i ask.....wat is a average repair cost for 500 size?

Coz a 450 size average of a repair cost is ard 20 - 30 buck.

The parts that 500 size required for change is about the same on average, as the 450 size.
The blades at least $75. Rest of the parts you can check out on the LHS sites.
Flying the Trex500, I would recommend 6s1p instead of 3s2p. I read through Helifreaks and many advised against running 2 packs of 3s.
Anyone care to share on how the power will be like and the amp draw?

coz the most likely items to replace after a crash are the main blades follow by the main shaft n flybar for my case.
