    600N engine tunning need help

Hi guys have this problem with my stock Os engine on my 600n

my setting now is 2n1/4 from close and the mixture controll screw is at 3oclock position. after every flight i don feel my engine hot. and my engine will not idle smoothly.when i spool up it will wana die off,i have to spool it slowly. And when even i landed tho stick at zero the engine will die off, i don even need to use tho cut. any one can advice on that? any sweet sport tunning? care to share. thanks

    My understanding is
    1. Mixture - dictates the flow of fuel from closed to half throttle.
This is used to adjust the idling speed. Your engine dying off may be due to:
1.Your lowest point in throttle curve is too low
    2.Your mixture is too rich.
    2. Needle valve - dictates flow of fuel from half to full throttle.
1.When after half throttle, your engine suddenly drops RPM and sounded too rich, meaning the transition from mixture to needle valve is not smooth, either one is too rich or lean.

The most ideal adjustment will be such that the RPM is constantly increasing from closed to fully opened.

Hope you understand so far. My personal take on this is to get your needle valve correct and then adjust your lowest point for throttle curve and mixture to get the smooth transition.

Anyone care to share where I've gone wrong in my advice??

        Hi there,
yeah! engine tuning is always a ticky one ( especially on a forum)
Which OS engine do you have ??

I remeber a few years back struggling with an OS 32 H in a 30 size raptor.
Your symptoms would suggest too rich ( is it producing loads of smoke?)
and remember until you've got a few hours of run in time fine tuning is going to be tricky ( although the new OS engines apparently take less run in time)

You might want to visit some of the raptor forums for engine setup ideas. the pinch test can help you get the basic set up right. Thats where you pinch the fuel line for 1 second and listen to the engine response.

With regard to the needle settings. an "x" oclock refeence doesn't really say much as it will vary from engine to engine. you need to check the basic setting for your model of engine. Usally these settings are with throttle fully closed X amount turns out from full in. Remember when turning needle adjustment screws full in to be carefull not to screw in too tight and risk damaging the needle/ seat.

        Good luck

your main needle is way too rich. Even for break in, you needle should be between 1.75 to 1.5 turns out.
Secondly, your mixture control screw is too lean. Move it to 1 O'clock position and adjust from there.
          Don't PCW

thanks guys.. i am using 20% cool power. i am not running in anymore. its my i think 10 tanks. Yes it does produce lots of smoke and i even can see a little bit of fuel coming out from my muffler.Btw i am not using a gov and i am using a liner thro curve.

If you have to spool up slowly else the engine will kill, means high chance its too rich at mixture. Lean abit and it should get better.
If after flying with throttle stick above half most of the time and when you come down the back plate is cool, the needle valve is too rich.
Look out for condensation aka water droplets at the carb. If there is water droplets then it is too rich.

guess its too rich for my case.
