    Heading Drift on hover.

    Need advice!!

My nose seems to be drifting to the right during hover in HH on my GY401. After correcting back the heading, the nose will slowly start to drift to the right.

My gyro gain is set at 72% on my DX7. Tried to up it to 76% still the same.

Anything else I need to check?

    Hi,

There are a lot of checks you need to do....try these first.

    1) Is your heli balance in term of CG?
    2) Transmitter trim is not accidentally tune to compensate to the right
    3) Swash plate "level"

Well I dont think its a CG problem cos CG will prob give me issues in the lateral or longitudinal axis. Same for swash as I presume that will give me issues in the lat and long axis.

I have also checked my rudder trim is at zero.

Will check on my tail blades though.

Anyone can share your set up for GY401 with DX7(AR700)? Only adjusting the gains in DX7(currentlyat 72% for HH) will do rite? Any other settings on the tx required?

I strongly recommend you to bring it down to a funfly and ask the more senior fliers to help take a look.

check for anything loose on ur heli.. any loose screws on the head or tail etc..

                any vibes?

if not, any slop in the tail system?
if not.. maybe the 401 is not setup properly, like HDB said, bring to a ff.. it could be solved in an instant..

No vibes that i know of......i hovered it just now in my carpark and everything seems fine in terms of tracking and vibes. Its only the heading that started to drift at a very slow rate to the right. Correct it back and holds for a while but then slowly starts to drift again. so far everything seems to be aligned at the tail rotor. But will take a look again tomorrow to confirm.

Which tail servo are you using, any slope in the tail servo?

Disconnect your tail push rod from the ball at the tail servo, try to push and pull the tail push rod with your hand and feel whether if there's any bind?

Try to rebind your your tx and rx again just to be sure.

it's likely to be a setup problem...

The tail blades' centering position is off...

Bring to a FF...tomorrow will be the perfect day to do it

refer to item 4 of the GY401 functions instruction sheet,
r u using digital servo without setting the DS switch or yr DELAY sensitively setting is too low, set yr tx gain highest see if the tail wag.

                        good luck

When you switch to rate mode, assuming you set up the tail servo properly, the tail should not be drifting, or at least very very minimal.. And when you switch to HH mode, the tail starts to drift to the right. I had the same problem before..

Check with you hook up your batt, your rx should be wanting to communicate with your tx, and being a 2.4, it will take a while for the rx to bind with the tx.. Once its binded, check the red led on the 401 if its solid red. If its blinking like 2 blinks with a short interval, followed by 2 blinks and short interval,etc.... you will get the tail drifting to the right.... I had this problem....

When you power up, make sure the rx is binded followed by the gyro led is solid red... once solid red, the tail should hold rock solid.. (at least mine did).. If the led is not solid, unplug the batt and plug it in again...

Dun understand why or how it happens, but it just did...

                          Hope all the typing helps...

Adjusting the tail blade angle is something that I always do when setup a heli..... do this if u have not already done so....
