Probably. In the future when economy turns better most probably will change to something with a little better quality. For now, no $ no talk, have to make do with what I have.

TBH, I suggest you to start with a decent 50 size first. You get a lot more stick time for the same amount of fuel.

No belt conversion. I prefer belt too, especially the single pulley type on the raptor but so far the 700N torque tube gear seems to be pretty beefy.

Cost me 2.8k w/o tx rx. Got some of my stuff cheaper than market price so saved quite a bit, plus I sold away the governor that came with it. Just wait for people to sell NIB or promotion offer.

For the time being, I will say....erm...avoid the 700N first. Because...

            1. Main shaft, tail shaft need to oil every 2-3days or it will rust...maybe its my home environment, but my raptor main and tail shaft don't rust and to think I am using cheap $5 oem shaft on my raptor.

            2. Fuel tank leak. Not everyone will have this problem though. I thought I was safe since I didn't have the problem after almost 50 flights. But it started leaking when I swop the stopper into the inside hole. Now put the tank bung in inside or outside hole also leak. I have found the reason...the hole on the tank for the stopper is actually worn out and distorted. Never had this happen on a raptor before, so all I can say is DAMN POOR QUALITY PLASTIC.

In addition, changing the cluck line takes...YEARS if you use the inside hole, especially if you use a YS with the regulator blocking the way. Obviously the heli was never designed with the knowledge or understanding that there are people making and selling YS engines in the world.
Of course you can use the other hole for the cluck, but you get other problem.

And removing the tank out of the frame requires a lot of force to get push the air trap at the top out. Putting it in is even worst. Makes you wonder why didn't they just take the 600N tank and material, crop it by a factor of 1.5 and put it into the 700N.

            3. Button head screws on the main frame are made of...erm...metallic cheese. They strip after you take out and put back 2-3 times, that is assuming you don't use loctite. Some have the problem, some don't. This is not due to quality of the hex you use but rather your luck. Why? Because those screws have a short collar that is not centered on the screws, so if yours is more crocked, then you have a problem. It might have been ok if they used a normal cap screw, but align choose to use a button head with very limited bite for hex driver. Of course you can always replace them everytime you take them out, but that screw is $12 a pack for 16, which translate to 75cents a piece Go count the number of such screws on the 700N and you will understand why its a concern.
Same problem with the spindle screws. Now you know how align make their buck?

            4. Ball links are always loose. Maybe the newer ones are better, but that is assuming rotor has got stock.

            5. Rotor has become my LEAST favourite LHS. Lets just ignore their pricing system of increasing the price of everything that always sell good( YS91SR, 700N, OS 91HZ..etc) because it makes economic sense. Stock wise, this don't have, that don't have. Amusing as it might sound, you still can't even find a pack of ball links for the 700N in rotor. And you will assume they will at least stock some linkage balls for the 700N after carrying the heli since start of aug? Wrong. NO STOCK. Same goes for the canopy and tail pitch slider arm. So amazing that everyone else in the world can get stock even though they are not the sole distro for their country. Amazing. Amusing.
And the emails they reply are...a joke, that is assuming they do reply you in the first place. All I can say is, the Rotor Hobby today is not the Rotor Hobby of yesteryears.

Lots of other issues, clutch, main gear, ball links snap, swashplate bearing...never had those happen to me and I think chances of it happening in our climate is not so high anyway. Nonetheless, the problems I have just scream CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. Pay peanut, get monkey. Issues I have, might or might not be present in later batch of 700N, but why take the risk and waste all your time?

            Just some useless, morning ranting.
hey bro do u think now the problems u mentioned have been fixed in the present kits??

Every heli has their quirks here and there.

But one thing stays for sure: The quality and price goes hand in hand, up or down together

I figured that if I buy a new tank, it might start leaking again after a few change of clunk and anyway, this tank is already condemn...might as well try to...
                    My fix for the tank.
                    From 90size

30mins epoxy is what I used. Anything less than 30mins might not work. Not sure how long it will last though. It worked for the short 1/2 a flight test.

What I did was apply a lot of epoxy around the rubber stopper(to get better fit around the hole), then stuff it into the tank, apply some more epoxy to seal up the area. Left it alone for >24hr to cure and harden.

In addition, I filed a small curvature along the main frame tank holder like what TmMugen did HERE, just of a much smaller(and smoother) magnitude.

I also found another reason why the rubber stopper will not work in the middle hole for my tank. Apparently, my tank has unequal tank wall thickness at the inner and outer hole. The rubber stopper was designed for the outer hole with the thicker wall.

Juz an update in case anyone is still reading this thread...

Epoxy on fuel tank still holding on well. In any case, I got a spare to keep 1month ago and glad to say, problem is non-existent on that batch of tank. One bad news though, I believe the fuel tank is out of stock at rotor now, which means the problem might be a little bit more widespread than we think.

Rotor got some spares in, still no sight of some spares. Spare support for this heli locally is REALLY LOUSY. Half a year liao, even the metal linkage balls also don't have.

Anyway, the much awaited ball links are BACK IN STOCK after being out of stock like 2months plus ago. Grab yours before its too late. Rotor only brought in the new linkage bag with the elevator link and unfortunately, you have to pay $1.50 more per pack for that one single ball link. Good news is, now they give 10% discount instead of 5.

The one piece of elevator ball link. Guys flying the first 2 or 3 batch 700N might need to change yours to get the perfect linkage geometry.

Long awaited plain white canopy also in stock liao at a price of $31+ before discount. They might raise the price because the counter people thought $31 is a pricing error. Apparently, they don't know that this plain white canopy has a listed price of UNDER USD22.

Anyway, need some advice. What do you use to spray a canopy? Taimiya cans? Nippon cans? Any nitro proof clear coat locally? Need buy primer, adhensive promoter etc? I am on budget, so the cheaper the better...

                        Canopy spraying

I used nippon spray cans for my raptor canopy last time. Make sure u sand rough the surface first else they wont stick. Spray a few light layers is better than one thick layer.

You can get the Lustrekote crystal clear from ntc, fuel proofing, but it stated only up til 15%. Here was how i did mine.
                        what's next?

I AM UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED WITH ALIGN.

It seems there is not such thing as quality control over at align. My very first time getting spare part, the shim for the dampers don't fit the spindle. Now this...how the fu*k can two packets of ball links of the same serial number come with 2 different elevator links is beyond me. If different serial number and thus different batch, I still can understand, but wtf is with this. HOW INCONSISTENT CAN A MANUFACTURER GET??? or maybe this is how Align can force you to buy more and make more money. Don't know, don't care.

Photo left to right: 1. original one which is too long, 2.found in pack A which is again the long one, 3. the short one which is the correct and new one.

My fault for taking w/o looking, I admit. Pay cheap, get cheap. I know its just a ball link, but if a manufacturer cannot even put the same thing into the same type of packets, what makes you think they can produce/machine the same thing of the same exact dimension everytime??

BUT glad to say, new links are straight. Now I have got STRAIGHT STRAIGHT double links

For a while I thought things got better, but it seems, for now, PLEASE AVOID THE 700N unless you really really want it.

Hey but I do agree with the fact that the spares support are lousy. Not much items. Plus if you need to get the nipple for the fuel tank you will need to buy the whole bloodly tank.
