    R50 - Can't start after 5 mths?

Guys, wanna seek your expertise and advice.
I've an R50 which was shelved for almost 5 mths due to winter.

I tried starting it today again but the engine just can't seem to kick in. The glow plug's working fine too.

Any tips on what I should do?

I've had afterrun oil run in before i shelved it.

An engine with spark, fuel and air will run. Make sure your glow driver is charged, your engine is getting fuel, your carb is not choked by dirt/dust and most importantly...make sure you are giving it at least a bit of throttle so the carb is opening to let air in. If all else fail, strip the engine to check your ring.

it could be that it just needs some fresh fuel in it.

take the plug out, unclip the fuel line and puth your finger over the exhaust throttle to full and Spin the engine until you see fuel coming out of the glow plug hole.

clip the fuel line and keep spinning it until the speed starts to drop.

put the plug back in throttle to idle and try starting it again.

if it doesnt start then put your finger over the exhaust for 1sec. If you go too far and flood it, clip the fuel line again and try to start it. you will find that as it pushes the excess fuel out it will fire.

when it starts unclip the fuel line before it stops.

          Thanks guys, got it running.
2nd question - how do you set the needle?
When trying to get the engine running, I was fiddling with the needle.

Is there any "max" or "min" or "mid-point"? Or i'll just have to fire it up and trial and error?

              Gentleman, thanks for your tips.

Got it fired up nicely and ran the engine through 2 tanks.

Everything seems to be running nice and cool now.
