    sub 500g t rex ...possible ????

ok... I am on a mission I want to creat a sub 500g trex so far I think That I can do it. I have lightened the frame , made my own main shaft!! , DIY landing gear , reamed boom ( this only saved 2g ..not worth the effort! hahah )

I put everything in a box and weighted it ( minus the canopy which I still have to get and the links which I have yet to put on. )

and this is what it got up to

Hahahahaha This project sounds interesting So lets make it clear u are aiming for <500g AUW I can do that w/o batts, blade etc

How did you do the main shaft w/o getting a lathe from me?

Hmmm.. next time u fly I siam a bit (Siam => Take cover)

I worry that if u do a huge cyclic throw and it will bend your main shaft very easily. Aluminium will not flex back!

I dont think the shaft will bend too much with a 4mm solid CF rod up its centre...this one bit is long enough for 2 shafts and is only 6g ie 3g per shaft. we will see cost ..about $2 per shaft or $6 for three.

can any one measure the exact lenght of the shaft for me if you have one not mounted up. I have made a guess-tamate but am not too sure.

            cheers doug.

Ps the kit has cost me about $ 200 in parts ( most of which I already had as spare) and the electronics are about $350 also of which I had...so if all works out well I should be paying for about $1 per gram lol

              Wow Doug you're the man!
The rainy days really bring out the ingenuity in you.
A 500g AUW T-rex will definitely bring it to a higher level of performance.

How do you prevent the carbon rod from stripping the teeth of the belt?
                huh

I could shave a bit more off her with wires and so on to get a canopy on her as well but for now its test flying.

I have full pitch range using only 60% afr rate and good cyclics using also 60% AFR.

will test fly today or tommrow ..will do the pitch setup first with the links.

can any one give me their throttle curve for the 400l motor 2800kv on the 9chp..it would save me a bit of time. cheers all.

also if anyone has a smashed T rex canopy could you also let me know I would be interested in getting one to shape for this bird willing to pay of course.

                        cheers

ok with bodgy canopy that I had about here ( fuse do you recognise it ? ) it put me over by 1g!!!!! 1 bloody gram I think I will have to do some weight saving on the wires as I have plenty of room to move things.
