Powertech Gyro - is HH really capable ?

Fellow users of the above gyro (if anyone), seeking your advises.

I have a TREX with GY401, but I still fly at void decks with my 'separated' FP.

I thought for $80, it is a good replacement for the non-HH PG-03 on my FP.
I want to upgrad it to CP2, if I got the PT Gyro with HH working.

I have followed all the usual setup recommendations - ie. side mounting, wait for blue light to come up, ensuring the tail rotor spin and rudder sense are correct and the gain control on channel5 (Gear) by adjusting the travel - -70 to 100 % for rate mode/+70 to 100% for HH.

I still can only get the Rate mode to work - the tail motor can spin during movement. But when switch to HH mode (with CH5 set to high travel 70%-100%), the motor will not spin, even when I move the tail or the rudder stick.

Can anyone confirm that if HH is a standard capability on the PT, or should I return to the LHS

    CH.

Why would you want a HH gyro on a motor driven tail heli ?
Seriously running out of ...Storage space !

      GF,

I am al cheapo okay !, also, motor driven tail despite its limitations,
is very simple to maintain. I like to experiment a bit.

I have tried a GY401 on the FP, it held the tail better with direct drive and higher power ESC (lower resistance ie. ICS100).
I agree with you, we would not buy electronics that cost more than the FP itself, it is just not worth it.

Anyway, can you confirm if my Powertech Gyro is really faulty, or just a case of overspecs from the company (not sure which PRC company built this
      GYRO).

I personally use powertc HH gyro before is a good gyro for it class I woould say. In this case, going seperate on the FP heli usually have this problem as it is using tail motor. PT gyro work well with my previous Belt CP. Guess it just fail when using on a tail motor driven heli. For seperate PG03 is the way to go...

        My 1 cent worth....
sigpicGround is closer than it appear...

Dun worry, I'm even more al cheapo than you think !

What I mean was that a motor driven tail rotor system can only effectively compensate for half of the gyro sensing function, the other half is taken care of by the torque from the main rotor (ie: the tail motor stop spinning)

What you want is a really fast rate gyro (eg: GWS Pg-03 or Futaba G190) in order to hold the tail of the extremely twitchy HB type helis.

The Powertech HH gyro are useable (so is a Futaba 401) but it is really over kill and the heli will not fly better than a good fast rate gyro.

For a motor driven tail heli, go for a FAST rate gyro and a GOOD tail motor ESC, it could make your heli a joy to fly or a nightmare to maintain !

            Appreciate all your inputs,

So the consensus is there is nothing more I can do for my PG-03
            equiped FP.

I am thinking of getting something between the FP and Trex,
what do you recommend ? the HB King 2 or belt CP, both are CP with
belt driven tail. The former is slight smaller and cheaper by $14.

I still very much want to fly in smaller space and void decks.

I would also like to add here, that I have done an exchange for the Powertech Gyro without questions from the LHS.
This one works, at least the trim pot seems to be doing something.
Great service by the said owner.
