oops!!! ok ok, G smart can perform 3d.LOL.
ok, i've never seen a hovercraft hovering in mid air, does that mean that it can hover in mid air? futhermore the G smart does not talk about anything related to 3d.
ok,let's cut the crap.anyone owns this heli? is it good? and can it perform 3d?

I think if it's ccpm.. it can. Question is, how well it does 3D.. if you want something really powerful, and fast (3D prerequisite) .. Then you should not even be looking at the G-Smart, and shift your focus on Raptor R50 or wait for the TREX 600N

Tucfaz, there is no doubt that ECCPM, electronics mixing, commonly known as ccpm, which I think is the ccpm you are refering to, can do 3d. However, do take note that wheather it is mechanical mix(MCCPM, HPM) or electronics mix, a heli can do 3d. As long as any helicopter with a good power to weight ratio, appropriate blade loading, enough cyclic and collective pitch and also good tail rotor system, it will do 3d.

I haven't fly a g-smart before, so I might not be 100% accurate, but looking at it fly, the way the engine appears to be loading up even in turns seem to suggest that there might be absolutely no power for 3d. It will probably do basic aerobatics like loops, rolls backward flight, inverted hover etc, if the flyer has got good stick control. However, it really doesn't look or sound like there is enough for 3d. Maybe a bigger engine will make it great, but a bigger engine will bring with it other problems. Then again, it was never intended to be a 3d heli, its a beginner heli.

                          Hi Guys,

Thanks for the friendly and constructive debate over the G-smart.
Please allow us to pull alittle straight from here.

                          G-SMART is never a 3-D heli design for 3D.

From the review of Uncle Lim, this heli is designed with everything a beginner needs to know about NITRO heli - from CCPM mixing & setups, engine fittings & tuning, how the engine fit with clutch shoe and contact with clutch bell, pitch settings, Gyro Settings and mechanical assembly are all stated in a very professionally presented manual - which we have not seen that coming from a China design team for a very long time

This heli from what we see gives a true beginner a good platform of starting Nitro Heli with very good reference pictures. It gives the beginner a true understanding and mental mapping of how a Nitro heli works before moving on to what everyone's awe and amazements of 3D capable helicopters which cost 3-4 times more.

                          Flying characteristics?...
I was present during the maiden... as also with the rest of DH members who were there to witness it...
This G-SMART flies very tamely... very gentle like a puppy with no intimidation of size and noise. It holds well in the wind. During the 1st flight, it only takes a couple of turns on the pitch link and tracking went perfect.

As this is only an 18 size engine, it is never recommended as a 3D Heli as what baby_zyklon is absolutely right about. It is design with a weight of 2.5 kg (AUW) and size just enough for beginner to get use to before moving on to 50 size and up.....

Here is the link to the video that Lim has demo the G-smart :
                          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6HHmgegnys

3D or not, we will wait for Uncle Lim to try it out

                          Regards,

                          Derrick

I absolutely agree with you Derrick ! ....was putting mine together last week and I'm amazed at the improvement made by Esky ! ......this has got to be the first heli I've assembled where I did NOT require a caliper to measure the flybar rod distances !

I've aredi prepared a 21 size RC-car competition engine for this bird !
Seriously running out of ...Storage space !

                              g-smart

g smart is a beginner heli. for those who heaven tried nitro heli might consider it cause its realli cheap for that size its almost the same size as my raptor 30 only shorter. saw uncle lim flew the bird normal figure 8 , stall turn , loops and row r perfectly fine other that erm don tin so. but i quite surprise that the finishing is
good. the main frame is high the boom to the blades is quite a distance so v few % will suffer a boom strike. esky does done their home work on this heli. but remember is a fun heli to fly around only NO 3D
