    HB FP Stock Main Gear (how many teeth?)

    Can anyone tell me how many teeth does the HB FP stock main gear have? I can't find any info on this.

    I need this info to do some homework like what pinion etc to get with my motor to bring the headspeed to 2200rpm.

      With 140t, 10 pinion, 3550KV motor and assuming 85% efficiency, head speed is arnd 1500. Still beary beary low.

      Detach8 is right, mus change to 4100kv motor and 12t to get 2200rpm headspeed.

        using 2 cells:
        With 140t, 10 pinion, 3550KV motor and assuming 85% efficiency:
        head speed = ~1600

        With 120t, 10 pinion, 3550KV motor and assuming 85% efficiency:
        head speed = ~1860

        With 140t, 11 pinion, 3550KV motor and assuming 85% efficiency:
        head speed = ~1750

        With 120t, 11 pinion, 3550KV motor and assuming 85% efficiency:
        head speed = ~2050

        using 3 cells:
        With 140t, 10 pinion, 3550KV motor and assuming 85% efficiency:
        head speed = ~2400

        With 140t, 11 pinion, 3550KV motor and assuming 85% efficiency:
        head speed = ~2600

        i thought gws motor pinion is 11T?

                cham liao. this posion is damn deep!

                burning a BIG hole in my wallet. ARGH! my hp bill is $302.16!! been spending all money on heli den not paying my bills sia.

                  stock blades can hover at around 1400-1500 headspeed. i've posted about this before.

                  the upper end of a 4100kv motor with trimmed blade (tested) is around 1700-1800rpm only, because of efficiency and drag. you won't hit 2000rpm unless you go 3s and get a high torque motor.

                  3550kv motor on a FP definately can fly. otherwise something must have been set up wrong

                    woops.. please use 12T if you have... the GWS 12T the plane gearbox is suitable for this purpose.

                      Detach8, really thanks for your feedback again.

                      Well, i can still fly, hover, alieron turns without any issues. My only problem now is the slow rudder turn despite shortening boom; the large turning angle during turning. Full rudder turn, the heli will spin slowly and drift away. You know what i mean. Will try to replace the fiber glass tail fin (6g) with plastic one to see if it helps. Not sure if a reduction in 3 to 4g helps?

                        hmm that i am not sure because ever since i went brushless, i converted my fp to a cp2 and used a HL gyro

                        slow rudder turns -> are you using the gws DD tail? try lowering gyro gain? ;)

                        shortening boom... how would this help rudder turns? the shorter the boom, the more force the tail needs to counter the torque. it's like a lever system. shorten boom may only help with tail-heavy CG problem.

                        did you trim your main blades? the stock untrimmed blades creates quite a bit of drag. you might want to try the wooden blades (which has an airfoil and better lift to drag ratio) or at least trim your plastic blades a little.

                          Detach8,

                          Well, i lowered the gain and lengthen the boom. Heli is perfect now. Spin fast.

                          Thanks

                              MayMay,

                              I'm still on 4 channel except that my heli body is now fiber glass. http://www.heli-fever.com/product_in...424qcae7o3nuf1

                              You upgrading to 6 channel CCPM? You might well get the CP2 kit from JetHobby.
