    Hi torque engine starter

Anyone tried these from rotor b4?
Are they reliable? And how big engine can it start?

And what about the tamahzo ones that uses two 7.2v packs? Any heli flyers using them??

oi. you forgot I was using that starter ah? anyway, I ever start up to 60 size, think it can even handle 90 size. but it uses 8cells not the 7.2v batts. mine is now dead cause of stripped gears.

i know u're using something like that, but just cannot remember if it's the Tamahzo or the Rotor's one...

So easily to strip gear, then a bit lousy leh...
That rotor's one also not cheap man....

no lah, that starter not so bad lah. gears stripped cause of years of abuse. when i strip it open, found a small screw inside that jammed or stripped the gaers. dunno how that screw got in there but guess I've got a messy toolbox....

Ahhh...so the Rotor's 'Pocket' starter is reliable enough lar? Does it have a batt pack or using those c-cell drop in type?

I'm trying to find ways to reduce my carrying load for Nitro flight...too many things to carry liao....flight box, tx box, fuel, and heli....

If I can just reduce some load, it'll be good...

VDXN, i use 2 of my old electric car's 8.4V 7-cells Ni-Cad batteries, don't use Ni-Mh batteries (tried already, no power), now starting heli so much easier, no more wires dangling everywhere.
14-cells starting a 12v 90-sized starter motor, super torque man! warning, this starter has stripped out a lot of plane's plastic nosecones so friends are a bit scared of using my starter!

Yeah, i was thinking of modding my Thunder Tiger's starter also, but end up still being too damn heavy and bulky...was looking at the smaller starter series...luckily my bird only 30size...so no need super torque...

Anyways, for the benefit of those who wanna know, i managed to find a much smaller 5ah 12v sealed acid batt...so much smaller than the 7ah ones, and lighter also...

Half the length of a typical 7ah one, selling at Sim Lim tower basement, a shop called Dave-Jones Enterprise or whatever...S$26+ i think, but sure can bargain...

So far, over the past year, the next smaller one I know is the 3.4ah type...More than half the size of a 7ah one, but less than half power.....The 5ah ones looks good, but I dun trust the brand...waiting for Yuasa or Hitachi brands to appear.
