oh yeah, is the esky v3lama a good heli to start with? it looks kinda small compared to the others.. is there a bigger, and easy to fly heli? new to the RC business. thanks in advance.

hmm the lama is indeed easy to fly

but wat r yr objectives? do you just wan 2 fly a heli around yr house? or do you want to join a bunch of ppl flying bigger helis in the field next time?

if it's just an "at home" hobby, lama is enough

if you wanna start flying outside, consider the esky hb fp, esky hb cp2 or the gws dragonfly fr pips hobby. these will get you the basics of hovering a REAL RC heli.

well here's the catch. if you buy the lama.. you will find it difficult to upgrade to a single rotor heli like esky or trex or even those huge nitros. you will have to learn all over again how to hover your heli. the lama is naturally stable (cos of the twin rotors that cancel each other out) and will hover without problem. you can even do it hands-free.

don't worry about crashing. crashing is part of the learning curve. the good thing is esky hb and gws dragonfly parts are cheap.

the esky hb is going around $230-260 in few shops. esky cp2 is around $400. the gws dragonfly is also around $400.

where do u live? if it's nearby i can show you my hb.

hmm there r alot of terms some i also not sure cos i just stared like 2 weeks ago..

RTF - ready to fly (i.e. full set with transmitter, heli, motor, etc)
ARF - almost ready to fly (usually the heli with motor and servo, then you have to buy your own trasmitter, receiver, gyro, etc.)
FP - fixed pitch, a very basic type of heli with blades that cannot change its angle so the only way to gain more power is to up motor speed
CP - collective pitch, where the blades can change the angle of attack.
                    3D - means stunt flying

yes, the basic models i quoted like esky hb, esky cp2, gws dragonfly... are mostly RTF, very ideal for beginners like us to start "toying around" so your crashing doesnt hurt your pocket that much!
