    how to trim heli

    Hi,
I am new and have few question on trimming of heli.

    1. how come people can fly heli stably, meaning w/o drifting left, right, front and back. I tried to takeoff mine but it drift to the left and also front.

    2. Can I do a trimming so that it can at least dont drift so much. Can someone pls teach me how to trim it?

    Thks

      Basic setup,

      1) Ur servos must be centred

      2) Linkages must be straight or 90 degree to the servo arm

      3) Swashplate must be horizontal @ 0 pitch

If above all have been achieved, then start to trim it on ur tx either thru sub-trim or normal trim.

Most helis have inherent problems n will drift, so its pretty much trial n error.

Lastly, having a heli rock solid stable hover is all abt the pilot most of the time!!!

But then again, not every servo would give you a 90deg servo arm and most of the time you won't get a real straight linkage. So trial and error is the only way to trim. Best is to get any experienced heli guy to help. Most heli flyers are friendly and would help if you approach them politely at the field.

bro..swashplate must be level even when -9 or +9 deg..isn't it?

Yes, swashplate must be level at any degree.

My purpose of putting 0 degree is to ensure that he is trimming the heli at throttle all the way down!!! Which I presume as he is still new n wont be going into 3D soon.

ok..i got what u mean...however, in this case..he might not know its out of trim during flight..would suggest to disconnect the esc to the motor and throttle up and down to be sure..if its out of level, can use to epa or subtrim to adjust..

less it is a CCPM machine....if not the swash should remain straight

Just bought a used Zap 400 V1 kit, saw in the manual can use a 4ch Tx to fly this heli, can i use a y-connector from Ch3 to both ESC & Pitch servo & set the pitch to 0-5 degrees?

hi..sorry for delay in reply. i doubt you can do that. dont ask me why. if can, then they wont say u need min 5 channel for helis. also, i doubt u can use a 4ch tx for this..maybe u double confirm if this is what the manual actually says.

wow..din know you could do that. well i think its worth a try, if u want to stick with 4ch tx but i think most 4ch tx doesnt allow u to do any programming like pitch and throttle curves..

good luck with it and let us know how t goes..

Wait till i transfer my HB FP reciever & servos, need to buy another 2 servos & motor ESC too. The only disadvantage is cannot do inverted or 3D flight.
Got to set the pitch throttle curve manually & it will be linear (not curve).

yes mCCPM can use 4 channels by taping throttle ch for pitch BUT the heli become fixed pitch heli.

i think fixed pitch is ok for simple ff and 3D (but you need idle switch)

comes to mind..maybe the esky 6ch tx can do also..
