      Eh? I thought i read it in their website that mentioned that upgrade is available if you have the G2 interlink controller? No need to get the hardware, just get the software for a cheaper amount of money???

      Hmmm.....this is not good...

        No! they don 't. I think what you mean is, Can G2 upgrade to G3 by software right?NO! G3 is a new product from Great Planes and they are going to used a new interface transmitter. Infact I also wish to used the old interface transmitter that I brought my G2 too Will since it is a new G3 and I think Great Planes is not going to do any upgrading for those people had already got their G2. If you are in the marketing line you should know. If I can sell a new product will I still want to do any system support on the old product? The answer is NO I will not spent my money on doing upgrade for things that is going to face out soon?RIGHT Let me find-out more about the new G3 and I 'll update to you guys

          There is not a upgrade for the g3 from g2.. different settings etc... per great planes.. they will offer a discount to customers if they bought a g2 recent ( not sure when this and what time frame..) great planes to let me know the details of this and i will let u know..

          they did state the g3 requires a new or newer CPU large VGA card.. lot of memory.. etc...

          will try to find out more details and let u know..

            I just got a press release with some of the features for Realflight G3. I have yet to personally see G3 in action so cannot speak for it firsthand in any way. I figured this is of intest to many in this forum so here is the copy from the release:

            Great Planes Mfg. RealFlight Generation 3

            Over 2500 square miles of flying fun!
            The largest flying regions of any simulator - each created from hundreds of MB of satellite imagery and digital elevation data. Modelers may run out of fuel before they run out of new scenery in a flying site!

            Positively THE most realistic R/C simulator ever produced!

            Over 10 unique airfields to fly at!
            Backgrounds that are anything but static!
            Objects accurately rendered in 3D!
            Generation 3 goes far beyond the 2-dimensional, "billboard"-look of other simulators. It's a living, breathing environment - fliers can immerse themselves in the realism! Trees sway in the background; clouds on the horizon follow the path of the prevailing winds; glare increases and subsides in relation to the position of the sun. Background objects even reflect off of the aircraft.

            The incredible flight performance of new RealPhysics 3D!
            RealFight Generation 3's new RealPhysics 3D physics engine was put through demanding tests and trials by world-class modelers. They all agree that aircraft on G3 fly more realistically than ever before - in fact, this simulator sets unprecedented standards for accuracy in exciting high alpha (3D) flight!

            An easier and more powerful Aircraft Editor!
            An almost infinite number of changeable parameters!
            Any modifications that a pilot wants to make to a plane are graphically represented on the wire-frame model, and reflected instantly on-screen.

            Break-apart aircraft!
            As is the case in real R/C flying, modelers may shear a wing off of their aircraft if they are too careless. The aircraft continues its flight, while accurately reflecting the parts lost!

            Unparalleled collision detection!
            Faster and more accurate than ever before!
            Unlike other simulators that have just a few collision points, Generation 3 utilizes a triangle-to-triangle collision detection system that "blankets" the entire aircraft with a network of collision detection points.

            Superior wind modeling!
            The wind field on G3 features 5 components: terrain-shaped, convection, macro-turbulence, micro-turbulence and global - to account for even the smallest detail! As winds collide, the strength and direction vary accordingly, and airplanes and gliders will feel the "bump" of a slope lift as they approach the top of a mountain or hill.

            Top-notch teaching!
            The Virtual Flight Instructor (VFI) has been expanded and enhanced to include additional maneuvers for pilots of all skill levels. Experienced modelers will be able to learn high-alpha 3D aerobatics from world-class pilots!

            Airport creating that's easy to use!
            More objects to choose from!
            With "drag-and-drop" simplicity, modelers can create entirely new airports using the mouse and just a few keyboard strokes.

            More aircraft choices than ever before!
            Almost FOUR DOZEN unique designs to choose from!
            From park flyers to 3D aerobats, slope soarers to Reno racers, plus helis and gliders, there's a wide variety of models to appeal to every modeler's tastes.

            A 360° "walk-around" preview option!
            After the selected plane appears on screen, it revolves continuously.
            Using the mouse it can be viewed from the top or bottom as well. When changing trim schemes, modelers immediately see the alternate model in the preview box.

            One-click installation!
            Even the novice computer user will be able to quickly install RealFlight G3 with the customized one-click installer!

            The InterLink Plus controller is new and improved!
            Now with Multi-Mode feature!
            The Multi-Mode feature on the InterLink Plus controller allows modelers to connect an additional InterLink or standard radio transmitter to the simulation! A push-button on the InterLink Plus controller allows for rapid, keyboard-free model reset.* *The InterLink Plus controller can als o be used as an interface with most 4-10 channel, FM or PPM-selectable radios which include a trainer jack. For additional information, visit the RealFlight website at www.realflight.com.

            Split-screen capability!
            G3's split-screen capability takes advantage of the InterLink Plus'
            multi-mode function. Multiple players on the same PC can fly together or conduct personalized training sessions.

            Complete Add-Ons* compatibility!
            Generation 3 is compatible with all five volumes of RealFlight Add-Ons, expanding the system's capabilities even more!

            The most popular features from Generation 2 have been retained on G3:
            * Multi-Cam* picture-in-picture viewing
            * Adjustable point of view
            * Multiplayer online fun
            * Heads-Up NavGuides*
            * Playback and Recordings
            * Competition/Events such as limbo, pylon racing and spot-landing
            * Much, much more!

                Eh, does it allow us to modify the electronic and engines used?

                I mean, a raptor with a tt50 vs os50 would differ in flight behaviour, so how did they decide what they wanted on the program?

                  RF G2 full version allows you to mod your models. Stock models comes with the TT engine coz the virtual models are actually endorsed by TT themselves.
