do you think this will work ..cdrom

while pulling apart some stuff here at school ...I found this brushless encased in a metal cap ..I previously have dismissed this motor but from pulling it apart it looks very prommising...

pre drilled and taped mounting holes, delta wiring, 2mm shaft!!! and .3 mm wiring......

do you think it would work on the feda?

and another view ..its slighlty smaller then the normal cdrom motors ...2.3mm across the bell

You're one lucky dude! That motor is basically RTR.
There's only one way to find out whether the windings are suitable for the feda and thats to run it!

            20T Delta!

20 T delta is a really hot wind!
It might be overkill for FP and 2S. It might be possible to fly the hornet with 2S with that wind.

The guys on ikarus recommends around 25 to 30 turns for delta winding to be used on FP's.

              CD rom issue

              Hi,
Got a similar motor from CD rom. managed to ply open as shown in the pic on post.
I am looking for suggestion on how to remove the Stator from the holding plate.
I tried knocking it out and am afraid it may be damaged.

Also suggestion on where to buy Size 0.4mm enamel copper wire for rewinding. Tried Rotor (only 0.5mm) (Tai Seng -do not carry any stock) Sim Lim tower, cannot find sources.

              Any Pink panthers clue

              Enjoy you weekend.

ok for the way to knock it out ...............Fit one of the guys here, has a quick website that will show you.

for the wire ...go to sim lim TOWER just accross the road from sim lim square and go to the basement. in the far corner of the basement there is a junk electrical shop that has heaps of stuff. you can get .35 mm wire from there. I also have a supply of .3 mm wire that I can pass to you at the next funflytoo .

                cheers doug

                    CD rom Issue

                    Hi Tele

                    Thanks for your quick answers.
Been to SimLim towers B1 and could have missed out on shop selling 3.5 mm wires last week. will Try again.

There is a shop selling CD rom motors like what you have posted for $2.00 at B1-25 ( so good chance to do project rewinding)

As for knocking out the plate, can you elaborate which way to knock down to be safe. Do we knock with the plate on top position. When knocked it is likely that we can secure it back with ball bearings. it looks like the copper bush is 4mm dia x 2mmhole, so may have to enlarge to get a 6mm bearing in.

                    Previous time saving experience solicited.

                    Have a great Fly weekend.

personly I use a small dreamel grinder wheel and take off the edge of the locking brushes that attach it to the main board and then gently tap it out. it works fine for me bot that is if you have a small grinder wheel

                          CD rom Issue

                          Hi Tele & Fit,

Many thanks for info and the web explanation of Fit is very helpful for new cd rom first timer.

I have removed the plate by the oversize drilling method and push out the stator. Let see how I get along with the rewinding.

Thanks fit for o.4mm wire. will contact you if I cannot find same.

                          Bye.
