    Did you mean geld?
    What's a motor?

Hahah, I guess I likely may have to. Even admitting to having something with a spinny airbrake on the front of it here in Socal is considered a taboo amoung glider enthusiast.

I forget who's video it was, but the one of the Pike with a motor on it was an eye opener for me. I never realized there was an electric version until then.

      That would be my pike.

We are just being practical here.

It depends....sometimes you catch a bloom at 50m, sometimes at the 200m mark. Than its all up to your eyesight

We do have a 200ft restriction here though

The old adage is true....put anything powerful enough on a brick and it will fly.
      Do you feel the RUSH....!!!!

        Ahoy!

I'm finally on the island! Had good business meetings this morning and took up the recommendation of the taxi driver taking in me back to my hotel from my customer and had my first Murtabak for lunch. In hindsight I should have gone for the small portion but what a tasty dish. Yum!

Laid down for a nap at the hotel and ended up sleeping for a good 3 hours

It's almost 8:00 but I'm off to go check out the Ion shopping center in Orchard area.

I'm off to Penang tomorrow morning but will be back early afternoon on Saturday and finally back to the states early Monday morning.

        Cheers!

Wow guys, what a whirlwind of a month it's been. I am back home after a month of being gone and am finally beginning to get caught up on everything work and life related. Processing all the information, excitement, fun, and experiences I've had in such a short period of time has been quite challenging however my brief time in Singapore still stands out so much and I can not thank Tony enough for his time and hospitality in welcoming me and showing me around.

It was a pleasure getting to meet a number of you guys as well for some evening drinks and chit chat, as well as seeing the booth and community outreach event you held at the community festival. I'm still blown away with Joe Yap's little Weasel clone and if/when I make it back to Singapore next, I'm sure I will be bugging him to let me fly it, or better yet, help me build my own! Here's a short clip I filmed at the local festival of Joe Yap flying his Weasel.

For those who are curious, I have still not received any marching orders from my company yet so it is still uncertain where I will be in the near future, however I am very encouraged and excited to know that if I do end up in Singapore I will be coming back to a group of friends.

          Cheers!

I'm still patiently waiting for my marching orders, but suspect I will know something more definite by the end of this month on whether or not I will be shipped off to SG or not. What I do know is that I have yet to find a good place that serves good Murtabak, Roti Canai, or Roti Prata here in California. The one place I found that claimed to have it was a big disappointment.

Hey Tony, I burped the other day and think I still caught a whiff/backtaste of some Durian

Ah, that reminds me, on my flight out from Chiangi I found a cafe in the terminal that had the Kopi C set with kaya toast and soft boiled eggs... Another thing you introduced me to which I already miss!

Dennis, I've been to SG a few times before, but this last time, armed with the knowledge that I may be transferred there shortly brought on a whole new outlook and desire to really see things from a local perspective. Of course the awesome hospitality and welcome you guys gave was also quite overwhelming. I've a lot of mixed feelings about picking up and moving away from the familiar surroundings and friends I have grown close to here, but at the same time the chance to experience so many new things at once is quite exhilarating la.

Well guys, I handed in my vacation request to my boss last month intending on taking advantage of the Thanks Giving weekend holiday here in the states and extend it into an almost 3 week holiday. My boss kindly requested me to reschedule it and make it a tad bit shorter and earlier as he was concerned about completing all the procedures, prep work and training of my replacement so that I could be transferred to SG without any issues. One week later I get called in for another meeting and guess what... I was informed the transfer was going to be pushed back to mid 2013 if not indefinitely and that I was free to take my vacation as I originally had submitted it. Of course by then we'd already purchased tickets for the revised and shortened trip we had made

After debating about the position and discussing it with family and friends and finally coming to the decision that it would be the best thing for me/us and then even really beginning to look forward to it, it has really been a bit of a let down. I'm not generally a pessimistic person, but I really get the feeling that it's just not going to happen... I'm sure my work will bring me to SG more times in the future, and when I do come and if I have sufficient free time I will definitely look you guys up. Who knows I might even get lucky with the timing and wind and see you all at Bedok!

                      Cheers!

                      -Jonathan
who will still frequent the slope/glider section here on DH

Thanks Tony, that means a lot. I really had a memorable trip last time and can't wait to be go back. I'll be in touch, on here and when I visit. I have a lightly penciled in trip to Japan in January and will see about extending it to SG if it pans out.

Wow, I saw this on some random website and just had to ask.

Yup, this is one of the fancy apartments located in prime Orchard road area, much about the same category as the units located in Sentosa residential district.

Just don't ask the price, ....you can't afford it if you need to ask the price !
