Hi Joe. I want to do a built-up wing for the glider after you have shown us How easy it can be done.

So how do you construct a schueman planform wing?
        Owns:
        Optics6 Tx 72Mhz
        Electron 6 FM Rx

        Multiplex EasyGlider V1
        AXN Floater Jet
        Blade mQX

        Tahmazo TL4 Lipo Charger

        Small budget. Great aspirations.

The basic construction is the same. The difference is that you build the separate panels, but leave the centre ribs out first, which are in the centre of 2 adjacent panels. Make 2 dihedral braces out of plywood, glue them to 1 panel first. Next dry fit the other panel and probe it to get the dihedral angle, and glue the other side of the braces to the panel. Only then, you'll glue down the centre ribs.

Do you remember seeing how my built-up glider wings are done?

Ya..I do remember how you did it..But its the designing of the schueman planform that Im not sure of. Like what chords should I give on each taper edge & the length in between the chord lines.

It is very difficult to determine the exact elliptical curve without wind tunnel testing. However, you can always start off by drawing a nice curve first, then later break it down by a series of straight line. The important point to note it that the tip chord is preferbly not less than half of the root chord, excluding the wing tip.

Oh..I see.. So Joe, you use Autocad to plan & print your ribs right.. How do you do it?

I drew the plan of the wing, and the position of each individual rib. I duplicate the basic airfoil pattern to the number of ribs required. After measuring individual rib length, I scaled each rib down to the actual rib size. From there, I offset the surface for wing sheeting, draw the slots for spars and accommodate for LE and TE.

We have finished building the wing & now trying finish it up with the fuselage & tail mounting before the competition Tml!

                    K..Thanks Joe!

That's why during the workshop, I have been emphasizing stability should come before performance. The plane must first proven flyable, before you can even talk about performance.

Attached is the glider my team built in 3days! Hopefully, it'll be our winning Glider! Hahahaa..

Wow! Glad that it still flies well. In fact better than I 've expected.

                                Jon,

Looks good and neat! Best of luck!
