    RC Car Newbie

    hi,

    Me new in RC Car.

Went to Tamiya recently and is interested in their F1 cars. Any nice place for F1 cars?

They are clearing their F1 Ferrari and Williams at $200. Guess is the older model.

Also, can pple here advice me on the Tx?

Overall, what will be the investment like?

    Thanks

I think every rc has comes with the same burden... Tools, Charger and Batteries as a start.

If the F1 Ferrari and Williams are RTR, u shouldn't need much stuff. Or else u will need a Tx, ESC, motor and steering servo. Lots of good sticky tires

I know a few ppl running the F103GT, which is a rear 2WD.

As usual, if u spend $100 u get $100 worth of products.....

Heheh. You started off RC with flying and want to try cars. I started with electric cars and have flown electric planes. For me, cars cost a lot more. The car itself can be anything from $180 (the cheapest I got) to $550 (the most expensive I got). Then there's the motor. Tamiya gives one with the car. I have motors costing from $45 to $150. There's also the ESC. Sometimes Tamiya gives you one, if not, they can be anything from $90 to $200+. Then there's batteries. I used 3300mAh NiMH batts. About $70. Also, the radio system. A Hitec FM one cost me abt $280. Then the servos. Good ones cost about $80 to $100+. The list goes on...I once spent $1000 on a car.

Anyway, bottom line is, it's expensive. I figure cars are the most expensive RC category, followed by helis and then planes.

Oh, for Tx, I got the Hitec CRX. It's good enough for me. Rotor sells it.
        I can haz diving?

          Hi,

Thanks for the advice... Due to limited ground.. I am now looking at 4WD Buggy.

I would like to have Nitro but if the setup and play is much more complicated, then I may start off with Electric.

Went looking ard just now... saw the Mini Inferno.. but kind of small.. Does it have speed? Is there a 4WD buggy tat have the same size as the Frog?

Saw one at Tamiya... call Dark something...

          Thanks

i am not being rude or sarcastic but maybe the best way to help you is if you can actually give an estimate to how much you wanna spend.
Then you can look for maybe a used buggy, 4wd or 2wd is also available.
If you say i want a buggy or i want a nitro something then your options are endless, there are china ones, usa one, italy ones etc...
i hope i can help you but maybe you can help us by stating what you are comfortable with spending ///
            Thanks

                EP buggy
                Kit new 300-450 (4wd more than 2wd)
                Esc new 60-250
                6 cells subc batts - 40 to 120
                Motor 40 to 100+
                Wheels 40 to 100+

Used market can get anything from below
                Used kit 200+
                used esc 100+ (good one)
                used motor 50+( good one)
                Brushless systems (200 ??) possible
                spares etc, depending.

That is for good almost race ready kits that you assemble.
They have cheaper ones that rtr and kit like you mentioned dark impact.
Good but you always want more performance so you spend on hop ups.
Unless you have some of these stuff lying around then startup can be cheap or very very expensive.
play for fun or race etc??
                Cheers
                f
