$400 might be a bit too thin for a nitro truggy or ST. You can try HPI RS4 MT2. Dunno if they have it in kit form here.

Another option is to look for a 2nd hand one.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

A truggy here cost $1200+. (RTR) - Hotbodies Lightning Stadium.
            MT2 costs $500+ (RTR)
MT218SS costs $400+ (KIT) but needs Radio, Receiver and servos.

All prices above got from Tai Sing (HPI Sole Distributor)
U can try survey other shops. Could be cheaper.

my apologies. what is the brand of the hyper 7 buggy? i am looking for a stadium truck type to bash around and race if possible. not sure if a buggy can handle the abuse.

For ST, the HPI MT2 18 SS will fit your bill.

Believe me, a 1/8 buggy will outlast the HPI MT anytime. All you need is to look at these 2 models at Winnie's (Swan Model) and compare the construction details. There's no questions which one will take more abuse.

BTW, Hyper 7 is a 1/8 Taiwanese buggy made by HoBao. It's marketed in the USA under OFNA.

so its hyper 7 and the mt2 18ss. how much is the hyper 7 kit going for?
H7 Pro kit (with .21 8-port engine, no electronics) going for $750 at Winnie's.
If no engine, then I think $550 or $500. Can't remember.

Team Losi XXX-NT AD2 kit (1/10 Stadium Truck, no engine, no electronics), abt $580, order from Winnie.

Losi has performance you can depend on. Losi RC cars, RC trucks, and RC buggies leverage innovative designs with scale realism perfect for racing with friends or competing.

Team Associated RC10GT kit (1/10 Stadium Truck, no engine, no electronics),
                              abt $520, order from Winnie.

If you want electric truck, Team Associated RC10T4. Abt $385 (I think...or was it $485?)...also from Winnie.

Anyway, I hope you build the kit and not get RTR.
                              I can haz diving?
