New RC Boating Venues Proposed - Straits Times

I read with great enthusiasm in today's Straits Times that RC Boating at Pandan Reservoir and Sungei Mandai Kechil Pond have been PROPOSED (in addition to the existing authorised site at Punggol Park).

I know certain DH moderators and contributors have been in close consultation with PUB and other authorities in connection with these proposals and I sincerely thank them for their efforts. These developments are not accidental and are the direct result of the concerted efforts of these people (the "silent heroes" ).

I eagarly await the "green light" on these additional venues and the parameters (i.e. rules) within which rc boaters are to operate when boating at these venues.
If in doubt - add more horsepower!

Umm, not sure if it is officially allowed but I may be wrong

It's been a long time since I've been to BR (for slope soaring), but I recall the water being a little choppy for the smaller boats. You may want to try a smaller pond to avoid having your boat swamped by waves.

Official openning of BR for RC sailing/boating is this Sat.
Power boats - only electric is allowed. Any grease use in the shaft must be bio-degradable and food grade. Nicad battery is not permitted. No IC engines allowed. We drink the water from those reservoir.
There will be a sail boat race. Air wave in BR is pretty congested. The area admin for activities in BR is now handled by Temasek Poly.

Grease helps with waterproofing the shaft...oil may not hold very well.
