Anyone piloting Traxxas Villain? Will like to your your comments, tips or modifications.

I just got mine a month ago, bought used. Ran great until its ESC got fried from leaking radio box.

This is my Villian Ex with a cockpit set I took from my Tamiya rally car. I cannot tahan the look of these open cocpit boat anddriverless! Ghost ship?!?!?!

For a while I was wondering how come your Villain EX is different from mine.

It's my first rc-grade boat and I think she's cool. There's only the problem of water in the hull after every run and it's quite a fair bit. Finally narrowed down the leak to the place where the antennae exits the cover. I've placed a 'condom' over the hole so now the problem is minimal. I think hatch tape will definitely reduce the leak even more.

    My mods are

    1) Cooling coil over the motors.
    2) Trim tabs to reduce porpoising.
    3) The said 'condom' to reduce water in the hull.
    4) I've also lined the hatch with some foam to further reduce water seepage.

For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

Sounds cool but there's not much space for the turn fin. However, I think it will definitely help the cornering. Mine tends to oversteer.

You'd also have to be a bit careful about the autobailer. The hull looks like it's a double layer abs with space in-between the layers. Not sure if an autobailer will work well in this case.

It's something like a one-way valve that lets water out of the hull when the boat moves.

                Look here.

You too? So what have you got?

Actually, autobailer works best in nitro/gas boats where there are significant amount of water getting in from the air intake. You can't do anything about that source of leak coz the engine needs air.

For EP, autobailer is a so-called lazy man's answer. You are not actually addressing the problem at all, which is sealing the leak. If the hull is properly sealed, there should be minimal water seeping in.
