    How to repair landing gear

    Hi Guys,

I've managed to fly my FMS 1.4m Mustang and my Wildcat successfully. It is definitely wonderful but I think I might land too hard with my mustang, even though it looks like a smooth landing.

Now my left landing gear cannot close when I switch off my gear. How do I go about repairing it? Tried to force it to close but that thing is strong, lol. Do I need to open up the whole landing gear? Is there like an area that I can press or poke something inside to force it to close? try to open and close a few times but the left landing gear remain open.

    Thanks and advance guys.

    hi bro,

when u mean you cannot close your retract, it is the landing gear dun move at all or it move but hit some part of the wing that obstruct it from closing back to retract well.

If it move but cannot close due to obstruction, im not too sure about FMS motor drive retracts, but most electric retracts you can remove and replace the landing gear oleo struts or connecting steel pin whichever is bent, by loosening the set screws. If its the trunnion block that hold the pin/oleo to the retract thats bent, you wud have to get new retract.

If it dun move at all, no choice you have to open up the retract body and check whats wrong. You are lucky if you can fix it if nothing is broken inside. If its a broken gear or seized motor etc, u woud have to buy a new set as I dun think theres any spare parts for FMS retracts.

      Hi Bro,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, it's not moving at all. I think I need to take out the whole gear and see what's wrong, if I know how to find what's wrong, lol. Most probably I will spoil it but its ok, at least I get to see and test here and there.

But before I do that, better check with Jethobby if they have stock first .

You may have one of those servoless retract. The only way is to replace the whole retract. You may be able to open it up, but I doubt you can find replacement parts.
