    Home Made DIY CG Stand

After struggling with locating proper CG I figured that its time for a proper CG Stand. You can use Heli shaft like this one and insert it into a wooden block. Make two like this and use it to get the CG right once and for all.

Now you can eliminate one more error when the plane still cannot fly straight and stop using the finger method which is quite inconsistent.
Scratch building is more than cutting balsa wood and gluing them. Its a complex process that will test even the most resilient of people

Unlike acrobatic planes, glider CG are more critical. This is main due to the high aspect ratio and when gliding without power. Some times that 2 - 3mm make a whole world of different for narrow wing chord.

JH sell the CG balancer but I just could not bring myself to buy it. Even with 20% discount.

Heli shafts becos I have lots of slightly bent ones and sitting there doing nothing so make some use of it. Commercial stands too expensive. You will still need a bubble leveller to check the final horizontal position, eyeball is just not accurate.

Also the nail is not long enough , the fuselarge is touching the floor.

You are right! That 2mm did make a lot of difference, after the 2nd flight with roller coaster effect, I made the CG stand and got it spot on and flew it again. This time the glider behaved and glided straight with slow descend rate. No more struggling with the elevator stick
