It is not about living in Singapore. It is about living in modern cities.

Do you know that Chinese authorities imposed a total ban on R/C flying activities in Shanghai last year within the Shanghai Expo period?

ya, but then if the country is big, you could drive to sub-urban or rural area, to do all yr RC and FPV. Not to mention that you could also do some REAL flying from city to city.
In Singapore, got $$ also cannot enjoy. Hell lots of restriction lah.
Take off from seletar and land in Paya lebar LOL

The reason why the FPV causes interferences is because their system frequency range falls within the same band as air navigation aid system (VORs, ILSs and TACAN) and communication band (VHF and UHF), thus it is not their 2.4GHz transmitter or their video downlink that cause the HooHaa.
In order to fly to the range of 4km+, they are not on the same system as us. They are on either VHF or UHF. Which is totally illegal to own at all without licence. With VHF or UHF, they are truly LOS (Line-of-sight). With proper system and antenna setup (both transmitting power and height), they can reach to a range up to 80km easily.
So for guys flying 2.4GHz or FM, not to worry too much, as long as you get your radio system from a local hobby shops and fly stock, you are ok.
But academically, or by right, all radio equipment have to be IDA approved or licence, but since they are not so sticky about it..Just be safe, be sure... Enjoy RC...

        Happy Flying.
i thought VORs freq is ranged 108.0 to 117.95 MHz and NDBs typically 190 kHz to 535 kHz and TACAN is 960-1215 MHz

are these close to all the FPV devices freq?

as for ILS, the localiser carrier is 108.10 MHz and 111.95 MHz and the glide slope carrier 329.15 and 335 MHz.
And it is usually used in IMC

What are the freqs of the FPV devices?

Hi, yes some FPV equipments fall in the 900MHZ and 1200MHZ - 1300MHz range.
1200MHz - 1300Mhz are more popular because more accessories are available.

Nope, he's a AIRHEAD. Juz like me. Once while giving directions to a taxi driver, I told him to bank left iso turn left. To my surprise he did turn left. Then he turned around and asked me whether I am a pilot or I fly RC. Happens he to flys RC . Actually the term 'AIRHEAD' came from him.

Well, then choose those that is out of all the nav freq ranges lah.

Just when i want to apply my "skill" from FSX to some real life in-the-cockpit flying [the next best to having a PPL], this problem happens. Damned!

Sometimes it can be quite sickening to stay in such a small country
Restricted RC flying, banned FPV, cannot get the full PPL ......
                      The heat is still on!
                      Hi

OT abit. is it cheaper to get PPL over at the country up north??

Yeah, I did post that thought. Refer post #31.
But there's another aspect to FPV. CAAS and ISD laws - aerial video and photography is illegal.

Not sure if flying FPV WITHIN the flying field w/o recording any vidz is illegal too? Juz First Person View. No recording of vidz and photos. No long range flight.

quite cheap. I hv found out previously, less 10k sing depending how fast a learner you are. Intend to take up, but cannot find enough time. There was an intake recently but i did not sign up.

What part of this forum you don't understand?
It is not a matter of which frequency is not been use. If you want to use and unused freq, why don't you apply with IDA. Get their blessing and you can use it for whatever you want to use it for.

Like I pointed out, Singapore RC community is assign to 26.96 - 27.28mhz and 29.70 - 30.00mhz with an output of < 500mw. Now with 2.4ghz been approved, that is good news to us. Holding on to Singapore's legal freq does not make us legal user. We still have to get IDA license to use the radio. IDA has lacks the registration of such licenses. Do not push them as they can easily make us all register our radio.

My suggestion to all is cool off! We can't use FPV with illegal freq, period.
You can try using it outside of Singapore, you will not be in Singapore jurisdiction.

Just enjoy this hobby as it is.

I think AR Drone selling at Toy R Us fits into this group of short range flight without recording? No sure. I don't have Iphone so cannot buy it and try out.
