      Hey Dennis,

My hats of to you on your successful built. Very nice! This shows how much patience and skill you have.

I am sure you and your friend, both being pilots, should be a walk in the park for the maiden!

Many thanks for the kind words which are appreciated, still have lots to learn and experiment with...

I have learnt something here in Dubai where I am at the moment, if you have been following the thread earlier I mentioned the oily surface on the Depron. One of the modellers here told me that this is the mould release for the Depron. So if you wish to maintain the Depron surface "as is" ready for painting wash the model in warm soapy water first and of course dry it off.

Well now I have seen the real thing at Duxford in the UK which has proved most useful and I now have a better idea of where the decals go. So when I return to SIN city at the end of this week I can get started again on the model.

On my return to Singapore from vacation the decals have arrived so we are all set to move ahead with the model again. In the UK I visited a car paint shop to learn how to get those super finishes which they achieve after you or someone else damages your pride and joy.

Apart from all the rubbing down to get a good base surface, they spray the first colour coat and then rub the surface down with 1,500 grit with soapy water. The surface is then cleaned and a further coat of paint applied and when dry this it is rubbed down with 2,000 grit with soap and water. I came away needless to say with samples of 1,500 and 2,000 grit which I have used on the wing of the Concorde, using the above technique most of the tissue wrinkles are gone and the surface is now nice and smooth. I now need to do what they call a dust coat and one more rub down with the 2,000 grit and then it is decal time.

Thanks, not that I like the humidity but that is life in Singapore, a couple of pictures for you guys... In this order, inside the 002 Concorde test aircraft, then that TSR2 (note the size of the guy in the background..! it is big) and would it not be nice to have one of these whizzing around the flying sites in Singapore.......

After oversleeping from the infamous jet lag, I managed to get stuck into the job in hand. The rub down was performed and we are all set to stick on the decals Made a few prints of what goes where and then realised boy those windows are really small, I am going to have some real fun with these.

Four hours later G-BOAC was finally in her finished form, I now have to make the "Chuckie" to validate the CG and then I can mount the servo's, motors cut the access hatch and we are finally on the home straight at last.
