    Where to buy 1/2A engine?

Hello people. I'm looking to convert a GWS model to glow engine. Where can I buy 1/2A engines like the Norvel, ASP or Cox 049, 061 or 074 in Singapore?

    Thanks.

Norvel is a good Russian engine! I have a 0.061 too!

            Have fun!
            I have seen them all.

A nerd looking and sick flyer who thinks that he is a great modeller.

Wow, today I went to NTC to check the 0.061 out, it's seductive as every other engine is, and the engine sparkles!

I couldn't find any planes in the hobby shop that's meant for these engines, anyone got any ideas?

Hobby Shack may still have some House of Balsa kits left. The last time I looked, they still had the ME109 and a FW190. The Norvels will power them just nicely. They make very easy conversions to electric as well. I had a FW190 on a Mega 16/15/7 for two seasons (before I got dizzy during a fun pylon race and flew her to the ground) and it flew very well. Just remember to build them light. The kit comes with fairly chunky pieces of balsa. You will want to hollow them out as much as possible. Some ply parts are overly specified. You can easily replace them with lighter ply/hard balsa composite pieces with no loss of strength at all.

I've built both a gas (powered by a Cox 0.49 Teedee) some 10 years or so ago and more recently, the FW190 powered by a Mega 16/15/7 on 8 cells and my reckoning is that the electric flies better. The problem with the small gas engines with small diameter props is that that they lack thrust. They need to fly fast and will lose quite a bit of speed during turns. Once they fall below a certain speed, the plane will begin to wallow around a bit. With the Mega turning an 8 inch prop, there is loads more thrust and the plane, although it still flies above scale speed, at least doesn't fly like a manic wasp with its tail on fire. I think you get the drift here.
